One reviewer stated the motor burnt out whilst cutting 50mm x 150mm material at 45 degree angle... The specs of this machine clearly state max cut at 45 degrees is 40mm so hardly surprising the machine suffered... You know what they say about blaming your tools... there are times when it appears true...
I find the makita 18v range great tools comfy in use and good at what they are specced to do...

Have had one of these for over 4 years without trouble.
Will cut any thickness of timber......provided you do so in a couple of cuts.
Anyone expecting a battery powered saw to cut through 2" in one cut should not really be using one!!!

Fairly useful if you are cutting stuff not too thick or hard. Had this for about 6 months used on 2x6 pine and 18mm shuttering ply and works adequately although battery doesn't last that long. Other day I tried to cut a 45 deg slice off a 2x6 length wise and the motor burn't out. TBH I'd say stick to a powered version if you can. Cheaper, more powerful & probably more reliable.
