Rated 5 out of 5 by from So reliable This is very good paint at a very reasonable price. This paint is good for: - bare plaster (watered down as mist coats) - priming bare wood once any knots have been taken care of - undercoating. Great adhesion, the opacity is excellent and if applied in thin coats it gives a very smooth finish - top coat on ceilings and other surfaces with minimal abrasion Not good for: - a top coat on surfaces which will get lots of abrasion i.e. it can be scrubbed off with a cloth. Use a coat of (more expensive) endurance matt over the top of this to protect it, but this is a more economical way of building up the opacity first. Don't be deceived by the lower opacity when wet as you are painting it on and be lured into making the coat too thick. When it dries, it gets quite a bit more opaque.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow what a product Have used many paints in the past but this one beats them all. Used on new plaster it covered well in two coats. Easy to use and gives a good finish. Will only use this one for my ceilings in the future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favourite paint! Currently fitting out a showroom and have pre painted walls (bright pink) to cover, fresh plaster and blockwork to paint. I had previously sworn by another brand of paint that begins with D and ends in X and refused to try anything else but due to a recommendation to try this on fresh plaster and the price for a 15ltr tub I thought it was worth a try. So glad I did. In my opinion, It offers superior coverage, it's whiter (if that's possible) but not by much and there is a lot less splash when using a roller. I ended up testing it against my old favourite paint brand on the same wall with the same roller (yes, I did run the paints out before I swapped paint) just to satisfy my curiosity and the lack of splash alone makes this a favourable choice. Only one slight negative (very slight), it does leave a more chalky finish to the touch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE best paint for new plaster This in my opinion is the best solution for sealing new plaster work before painting with top coats. It will allow the plaster to breath and let excess moisture out whilst drying fully. It sinks into the plaster and obliterates the plaster colour, giving you the perfect blank canvas on which to cover with your chosen colour. NEVER ever use PVA, never use vinyl silk/matt even if watered down to seal fresh plaster. It will trap moisture and will cause blistering of your top coats. USE THIS STUFF, IT'S BRILLIANT ! :-)

I need an breathable emulsion which can be applied to bare plaster and previously painted wall

Asked by: Painthappy
Hello Painthappy. They Super Leytex is a breatheable emulsion so is suitable for both uses. However please note that this product is not designed to be durable - it will mark and scuff very easily. Thanks

Spraypain gun

Can I use this paint in a spray paint device like a WallPerfect 565
Asked by: Mojo123
I personally use an airless sprayer which can handle this paint straight from the bucket. Your WP565 will be able to spray it but it will probably need thinning down with water for the paint to flow and atomize properly. I cant say exactly how much but your WP565 will have a guide (prob online somewhere) as to the perfect viscosity.

Are there any paint professionals out there, that use Leyland emulsion, i normally only use Dulux emulsions and was wondering how they compare.

Asked by: Yanvan
Hello Yanvan. The Leyland Trade Super Leytex Matt Paint is known as a 'contract' emulsion. Formulated for new plaster, it is a highly breatheable product, it is also known as a high opacity paint, as it needs to be able to cover fresh plaster in as few coats as possible. As a contract paint, I would not recommend this product as a long term decorative finish. it's primary use is for over decoration of fresh plaster that has not fully dried, therefore it is not particularly durable. if you have plaster that has fully dried, I would recommend using Leyland Trade Vinyl Matt Emulsion. this is classed as a 'wipeable' product, therefore you will be able to clean down mild stains gently with a damp cloth. Thanks

Mist coating on new plaster.

If this is being purely used as a first coat on new plaster - do you need 1 coat or 2? Why would you need 2 coats if all you wish to do is seal the plaster. Also does it need watering down?
Asked by: MrMo
Hello. 1 coat should be adequate for new plaster - thin with up to 10% clean water. People may apply 2 coats to apply a temporary decorative solution to new work. for new plaster this would allow moisture to pass through the coating. However we would only recommend this as a short term solution, as this product is not wipeable. If the plaster is fully dry we would recommend thinning the 1st coat with up to 10% clean water with the desired coating.
