Exterior painting

Could I use this paint on an wooden picket fence ? I have the paint already in my garage just need to know if it would be a waste of time or not
Asked by: Dean612
Hello Dean612. This product is only for internal use, it would not be suitable for external use, nor the substrate you intend to paint. Thanks

How many Mist coats would you recommend on new plaster before putting on your final top coat of silk finish.

Asked by: Louise6
Hello Louise6. The Leyland Trade Contract Matt is formulated specifically for new plaster - it is a highly breathable paint so will therefore allow the plaster to breathe whilst it is drying out. Because of the breathability the paint will mark very easily, and is very absorbent in its own right. if the plaster is still wet I would suggest thinning the 1st coat by 10% clean water and follow up with 2 full coats, then when the plaster has dried apply a thinned down solution of silk (again around 10%) followed by a further full coat. However, if the plaster has fully dried then you can apply a thinned down solution of silk straight to the plaster, followed by 2 full coats. Thanks

Will this cover bright yellow satin artex well?

As per question, recently moved in to a house that largely hasn't been redecorated since the 80s
Asked by: Guestie
Hello Guestie This paint has fantastic Opacity - hiding power, but to be honest you may need Three coats to get a solid finish. I think this would be the same with most paints. Good luck!

Misting

Hi there I have newly plastered extension. Is this a good paint for misting and what ratio do I need to apply with Water : Paint. How many coats do I apply and to what rations? Kind regards
Asked by: banshee09
Hello banshee09. Contract paints are designed primarily for new plaster which has not yet fully dried - it is a highly breathable product so allows to plaster to continuously dry. I would suggest for your 1st coat to thin this down with up to 10% clean water. Once dry apply 2 full coats. However please note, because of the high levels of breathability this product is not durable, it will mark and scuff easily. As an alternate option you can wait until the plaster has fully dried, then thin the 1st coat down of your desired topcoat (for example the Leyland Trade Vinyl Matt which is known as being 'wipeable'). Thanks

Can this paint be used to redecorate ceilings, including bathroom and kitchen

Asked by: ABloggs
Hello. the Leyland Trade Contract Matt is a highly breatheable product. primarily for new work, this could be used in an area such as a bathroom ceiling. However, due to the quick drying and absorbency of this paint, it is often difficult to achieve a uniform finish. I would suggest the use of a Vinyl Matt instead. Thanks
