LAP 13A 2-Gang SP Switched Socket & USB Charger Brushed Steel Flat Plate
Warning to iPad users
This item does not charge ipads properly. I have bought three of them, had high hopes, but after trying them for three weeks, have found that they stop charging after a while. They are ok with my iphone, but often I wake up in the morning to find my iPad has only charged to 68%. The first time I discovered this, I took it back to Screwfix who replaced it with no hesitation, only the replacement does the same, and I have found that all the ones I bought from Screwfix stop charging after about 5 minutes. I do not have the equipment to test this, but It appears they may not be giving the 2.1amps stated, my iPad charger works perfectly, I had hoped that this device would save me carrying the charger about, alas, not so.

Flat Plate USB Socket
Poor design. Cables to tight if coming up in the centre of the back box. I installed into a 35mm backbox and found it difficult to screw back into place.

Great but akward to fit
With more and more devices needing to be charged by USB i thought that this would be the ideal thing as technically i could now charge 4 devices from the same socket.
In practice it works incredibly well, looks great and is well made from a know brand unlike other cheaper options on the market, however....
If you want the socket to sit flush with the wall and not to use the included WHITE?! plastic spacer as you probably would bearing in mind this is a flat panel, you will most definitely need a 47mm back box. I had previously changed the back box to 35mm when i replaced the sockets for standard flat switches some time ago. but this would just not fit with the cables behind the socket.
This turned a quick 10 minute job into a 2hr job as i had to pop back to screwfix for a 47mm back box and then chisel the wall out to accommodate the new one.
Most frustrating but worth it in the end as I'm charging devices to my hearts content.

Difficult to fit
Tried to fit this to box with 40mm depth. However the transformer on the back of this requires full height across the hole. The central bottom cable entry to the back box meant that the cables fouled the transformer and the plate did not sit flush. Therefore it needed the provided spacer plate. I was a bit disappointed as I had thought no problems with 40mm clearance. Hence if buying check you have enough clearance in front of cables not just within back box.
