LAP 13A 2-Gang SP Switched Socket & USB Charger Brushed Steel Flat Plate
A great invention
Having seen this product in the recent Screwfix offer leaflet, I had to go and get a couple.
Most phones, tablets and cameras are now charged via a USB lead and this product makes it easy to charge those items without having to look for a spare wall socket.
Simple but a very clever idea and a great design which I dont doubt will become very popular in homes and offices.

Not enough juice !
Great idea, poorly executed.
For me, the USB feature does not work well at all. I have tried a range of Android phones along with an E-Cigarette USB charger, and all devices - whilst appearing to charge - do so VERY slowly - a usual indication of a low power USB supply. Correct manufacturers USB leads were used of course.
Despite many hours of connection, all devices never reached 100% charge.
This might be suitable for lower power requirement devices but does not look up to the task for smartphones and tablets.

Good but not great
The concept is great, it un-clogs your sockets from all those USB chargers.
The finish is good, the socket looks nice and is supposed to be flush BUT will only fit flush in a very deep back box (deeper than 35mm) because the the charging unit is very bulky. A spacer is supplied to give the charger enough room, this stands the face plate out of the back box and away from the wall, leaving it not flush, defeating the object of fitting a flush design.
We noticed our smartphones were not completely charging overnight so I investigated the charging performance. I'm a techie and know devious ways to fool, cheat and boost usb chargers. No matter what I did, I couldn't get the socket to perform any better than plugging into a laptop USB socket (normally about 0.5 amps and very, very slow to charge a smartphone). This unit takes more than 12 hours to fully charge my HTC One or my wife's Nexus (charged one at a time). Conversely it takes only 2 hours to fully charge either using any of our 1amp generic plug-in USB chargers.
I conclude that the socket is not delivering anything close to the 2.1amps described.
Disappointed, I am returning the unit for replacement. If the replacement performs better I will update this review.
