Been using belt sanders for years and have usually bought Makita tools. Had a few problems with Makita recently, poor products and poor service so have decided to switch to Hitachi. Bought a Hitachi SDS drill recently and was so pleased bought this sander. It did an old 12sq yard T&G floor easily, as good as any of my Makita sanders. The shortish lead wasnt really an issue but I found the belts need tracking so they overhang the machine by a couple of mm and a hard case would have been nice
Really pleased with its performance and pleased I have found a product that in my view is as good as Makita but far cheaper....

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Flitter Very good sander, short cable
This tool inspires confidence. I've had a couple of economy brand belt sanders in the bast and both broke quickly.
This is heavily built, the belt tracking works perfectly, & loads of power.
The slighty off-centre mass means you need to take account of that when sanding, so as not to take more off one edge than the other. - That's easy enough with a little feel for the tool.
The power lead is too short.
Recommended in all other respects

This seems like a good sander, however it's got a few let downs. The mains lead is very short to the pointy you will need to keep dragging the extension lead with you as you move around a 1m radius which get tedious for big spaces. Real shame about the lack of tool box or bag to keep the tool in once done. And the plastic window has no value at all.
Apart from that it seems to do the job (although it does get hot).
Not sure about reliability yet hence the 3 stars
