Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value Bender For the money this bender has exceeded my expectations. Bought on the off chance as I left my Rothenberger benders on another job it performed admirably and has become a regular go to tool. I only scored it 4* on features as it has stickers for the 90 degree mark and it could easily get damaged with a misguided pipe during use. That said I grooved a line on the former with a hacksaw blade to replace the sticker and now its fool proof.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Heavy man... When they call these heavy duty their not kidding..Having no access to a vise I had to bend pipes freehand..a bit fiddly but managed in the end and couldn't have done it any other way. The pipe bending itself was easy with such long handles giving excellent leverage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This Can Tackle Most DIY Jobs Reluctantly, I actually purchased this item because I had a floor standing radiator to fit. Initially, I wanted to call out a plumber, but my regular guy is on holiday and this is only a small job. So I tried a couple of others, three in total. Being summertime many plumbers are not interested in such small jobs, the “so-called plumber” who was willing to do the job, quoted me £65 and I would have to supply all the materials, then when I pushed him on what and how he was planning to do this job, all he could tell me, was that he could do it and where were the radiator assembly instructions. It turned out he was just handy man and claimed that he would only cut and join the pipes with elbow joints, no bends that I had to supply along with the pipe – a job I could have done myself. When he then claimed that a pipe with multiple elbow joints was stronger than a single pipe, bent to fit – I knew I was dealing with a 100% genuine cowboy. In the end I bit the bullet and purchased this item just to do this one job. I also bought a length of copper pipe on which to first practice with and watched a couple of YouTube videos beforehand. But in the end this item was so easy to use and very straight forward, the secret is to take your time when bending pipe and don’t rush the job. Copper is not that expensive so you can easily practice if you are not confident. My only criticism about this bender is that it is a little difficult to attach to a workbench in my opinion, but apart from that I would certainly recommend this to the amateur, DIY users. But why would I pay a cowboy to bodge a job when I could do a better job myself with this pipe bender, given it is so easy to use? I was quoted in the range of £65 - £80 to do this job, no more than an hour’s work for a competent plumber. Another “so-called plumber” claimed he wouldn’t need a pipe bender to do my job because according to him, most plumbers now days bend pipes with their hand, as he would do. I imagine this is after he has finished feeding five thousand with five loaves and two fishes.

I have just taken this pipe bender out the box but the tool seems to be locked. Cannot open the handles. Am I doing something wrong ?

Asked by: HOODLUMDIY
Its not locked. Loosen the nut AND unscrew the bolt and it will free up.
