i thought i'd try these at the price of £2:50, i thought they'd be cheap and nasty but probably good enough, but i was very, very surprised, solid brass, very good quality, and the screws were included, haven't fitted them yet, but i can tell, they will be perfect for the job in hand. would not hesitate to recommend to anyone.

The bracket itself is outstanding value - solid brass (or so it seems), well designed and all for a couple of pounds each. Definitely recommended.
The poor review relates to the fixing screws provided with the bracket - these are of as poor quality as the bracket is good quality. The screws are made of cheap metal and barely survived the screwdriver (ie, if the screwdriver slips, the screw head is quickly wrecked). I had to take the second screw I put in back out again and needed to use pliers. I removed the first screw, switched to better quality solid brass screws and threw out all the screws provided with the brackets.
The screws aside, the brackets are unbeatable value.

Same quality brackets on sale for three times the price elsewhere, so it's a clear winner.
As others have said though, the screws are poor quality. and the countersink is a bit small but you can get a good pozi in there easily enough. (Just a note: handrail brackets should never be screwed direct to a wall - especially a plastered wall - and the holes aren't intended for fixing that way; correct practice is to use a 100mm x 100mm x 18mm ply pattress, screwed to the wall with a 3" or 4" 10, in the centre, double brown plugged, then fix the bracket to that.)

Seems a sturdy product for the price although one needed to be "adjusted" to make the plate fit to the wall properly.
They only poor point is the fixing screws. Clearly the 1" x 6 screws provided are totally useless for fitting a handrail to a wall. I even found a mixture of pozidrive and crosshead screws in one packet.
The problem is, the countersunk holes in the bracket are too small for an increased screw size so the finished look is partially ruined.
