Best alarm clock... EVER!
Being a professional electrician I remember these when they were launched a couple of years ago, they retailed around £80 - £100 at that time.
I have the switch replacing the existing dimmer switch in my bedroom and is completely compatible with my two-way and intermediate switching arrangement.
Set up was a breeze; instructions are clear and concise (if you get any in the pack with yours that is, as I didn't and they wouldn't even knock a penny off for my troubles to obtain and print my own!).
The light output is fully customisable and adjustable; it can be set to increase the light output gradually over anywhere between 10 minutes to 4 hours; it switches off at your chosen time, there are 5 programmable security modes and its maximum brightness can also be adjusted saving energy.
Both my girlfriend and myself and very impressed with this switch, in my professional opinion the quality of the dimmer circuit is very high; the light has a soft start and soft off feature which is not only pleasant to experience, but it will also save you a lot of money in replacement lamps as this allows the filaments to warm start rather than pedal to the metal!
As I write this I have just ordered another for my lounge lighting, I am hoping it's compatible with my LED down-lights, I would not hesitate to recommend this switch to anyone who prefers to wake up feeling fresher than an alarm clock wake up!

Not compatible with CFLs
Title says it: not compatible with compact flurescents (energy saver lightbulbs).
Otherwise seemed a nice unit.
Be helpful if Screwfix picked this up and included it in product info.

Good concept but with flaws
The Elkay Customlight looks good and incorporates a useful selection of features. However, it is let down by a variety of design flaws. It is clearly designed for use in a bedroom, but the backlit display is brighter than most night lights even on its dimmest setting, making it unsuitable for those who like a dark room when trying to sleep. The rear of the unit is also so large (tall and wide) that it does not fit in a standard dry lining box.
The user interface is generally easy to control, although the rubber buttons require more pressure than would be desirable and the similarity between the main on/off button and the up/down buttons makes them hard to locate quickly by feel. The menu is also rather awkward for operations such as disabling the dawn simulation for lie-ins when on holiday. Finally, enabling the dusk simulation (child night light) is annoying since the lamp must first be switched off - it cannot be used just as a delayed switch off (like that on many other high-end dimmers).
Overall, this switch is suitable for bedrooms where a night light would normally be used, or for (dimming and security) control of lights in other rooms. In those applications it is probably the best product available. However, the (easily rectifiable) design flaws listed above prevent it from being as good as it should be. If only the dimmer functionality is required then the Lutron Rania range is a better option.
