Bought this thermostat to replace a mains powered unit which has died! The old one was simply a switch which waited 10 sec after reaching temperature then switched off, this meant that the radiators were still hot and so the temperature in the house continued to rise, then when it cooled down there was another wait before the unit switched the boiler back on. This meant that the house was continually either too hot or too cold.
This new Drayton unit is much more intelligent and controls the boiler so as to keep the house very close to the set temperature, which is much more efficient and and comfortable. The unit we were supplied also overstates the 'actual' temperature by 1 - 2 degree (checked with a calibrated thermometer) but as the other reviewer stated it's not a problem as I just set the required temperature a little higher.
I dont' know about the battery life yet but so far I would highly recommend this product

Rated 2 out of 5Â by Jackal007 Pretty rubbish
First one didn't work, stuck on 22 degrees so house way too hot. Second still didn't programme in correctly despite numerous attempts but seems to work a bit despite various error leds. Battery holder very flimsy for this much money and very easy to miss the connections. Whole timing system of central heating systems seems stuck way back in the past and this is another outdated bit of tech.

Wouldn't buy this if I knew you had to replace the batteries I have recently added this thermostat to my heating & within 3-4weeks batteries need replacing already.not good if you are away & come back to a cold house.make sure you replace the batteries if going away & keep a top up of heavy duty AA.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by Zacco Easy to fit and use
Simple to fit on a two- or three- wire installation ("parking" terminals provided for neutral and earth). Very easy to operate, just one big knob to click round for temperature setting and a big button in the middle of the knob to set and activate setback temperature. LCD display is a bit small, and the "demand" icon is hard to see (no indicator light). Temperature display on mine overstates by 1-2 degrees C, and there's no way to adjust it, I just had to compensate by setting the preset temperature higher, but it does keep the temperature stable. NB when the batteries run down it won't switch on, so if you're planning a fortnight's winter break leaving the heating on, change the batteries first to be on the safe side.
