Rated 1 out of 5 by CCA and not Solid Copper Cores I am disappointed to have to report that I believe the cable description for is incorrect and misleading. The cable is described as having a copper conductor and conforming to CAT 5E Networking Standards. I suspected the cable is in fact CCA, copper clad aluminium. I scrapped away the copper outside from one of the wires and you can clearly see a silver wire centre and this would not be present if the cable was solid copper. Although CCA is solid by some suppliers as CAT5E compliant is does not comply with the CAT5E standard and should not be marked as compliant. CCA cable is an inferior quantity, has a higher resistance, poor flexibility, is less malleable so prone to breaking and should not be used for power over the Ethernet because of its higher resistance. If you look at other reviews for the cable you will see I am not the first person to comment the cable is not solid copper. I have returned the cable for a credit and have sourced a solid copper stand cable from an alternative supplier. Depending on your application the cable may work but it’s not CAT5E compliant and its description should be correct on the site. 6 Apr 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Does the job Bought to add a wired network round the house, does the job and feels better quality than other cable I have purchased from elsewhere previously. 8 Mar 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by Does the job The outer sheath tears easily during installation when compared to other alternatives products. The wires feel brittle I will not be purchasing this product again! 23 Feb 2016
Rated 3 out of 5 by It's not copper cable it's CCA This is not good quality cable, and I wouldn't use it for long runs, but for short runs it should be fine. CCA stands for Copper Coated Aluminium. Aluminium is used because it's a lot cheaper than copper, but it does not conduct as well as copper, is weaker than copper and far more likely to corrode than copper. Given the choice I would not use it, but I needed to get the job done and I'd run out of my usual cable so had to use this. The twists in the cable did not seem as good as the twists in my better quality cable, but it seems to perform the same, lets hope it stays working well for many years. 7 Feb 2016

I live in a large stone house and we build an annexe that is self contained. Can I use this to run from my house to the other for Wifi? The annexe has it separate electricity.

CCA is inferior to copper because of its poorer resistance, brittleness and corrosion resistance properties. CCA does not conform to CAT 5E Networking Standards.
