Rated 5 out of 5 by from Covering a tar stain I had a tar stain on my living room wall where an old fireplace had been, I tried various methods to cover it but the stain kept re-appearing, after 2 coats of Bullseye I think it has finally sealed the wall. Excellent coverage and very little odour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Painting over varnished stairs Painting dark brown varnished stairs that had been painted before with white gloss but white paint is flaking off. Product was recommended for the job which is supported by documentation. Looks to have adhered well and given a reasonable base for a new coat of gloss but only time will tell.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of time and money I bought this after going to the trouble of phoning the Zinsser technical support line to make sure I was buying the correct one. The previous owners of my house have used silk paint to do their cutting in then painted the walls in with matt emulsion (WHY?!!) and no amount of paint I put over it will cover it. I was trying to avoid sanding the walls down and the mess this would make so researched and found this. Before painting the living room I did two coats of Zinsser to ensure it was all covered, but even after that plus two coats of paint the silk paint it still glaring through as neither the Zinsser nor the paint has taken properly. Sanding down and starting all over again now, so this was a complete waste of time and money. Not impressed as Zinsser specifically recommend this one as a solution to covering silk paint without the need for sanding.

Is this primer heat resistant

Looking to primer the walls around my stove
Asked by: Handlebars
Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. Providing the walls get no more than hand hot then Bulls Eye 123 primer is perfect for your project. One or two coats should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/L/coat, with a re-coat time of 1 hour. Once this has dried your choice of decorative top coat should be applied, either oil or water based. We recommend the area is clean prior to application for this hot soapy water should be used then rinsed with warm water. I hope this helps.

Painting over polyurethane

I used this to prime a polyurethaned staircase. I lightly sanded with 80 sandpaper before vacuuming off and wiping cdown with a damp cloth .I now find that the BIN primer comes away with the slightest scratch. Why has this happened?
Asked by: Amateur55
Hello. Thank you for your recent enquiry. The Zinsser B-I-N (29661 & 10130) is an excellent adhesion primer, its function is to bond to the substrate, block stains give key for the top coat to bond too. The top coat will protect the primer from scratching. I hope this helps.

BIN or 123 for laminate flooring

I'm updating old laminate flooring. I know it is not recommended but it is only a temporary fix until we have our floors redone in a year or so. Is 123 or BIN best as an undercoat? Once primed, what paint would work best on top?
Asked by: Spearmas
Hi. Thanks for your question. Unfortunately we do not recommend any of our paint finishes or primer for flooring. I hope this helps.

Skylight tunnell coverage

We have a skylight in our bathroom with plasterboard that has gotten a bit damp and has mould. Would this product seal it? I would like to put something on it that seals it, is this more like a paint or would it be a pernament sealer?
Asked by: Ally1963
Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. For blocking the mould on the surface you have, we would recommend using Bulls Eye 123+ primer (652JG & 756JG) as this will block the staining from the mould, however the plasterboard does need to be dry with a moisture content of 12% or less. This would be the same for any of our paints or primers. Once the plasterboard is dry and clean we would recommend using a fungicidal wash in order to kill any remaining spores and allowing this to dry before applying the primer. Two coats of Bulls Eye 123+ should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/L/coat, with a re-coat time of 2 hours. Once this has dried your choice of decorative top coat may be applied, either oil or water based. I hope this helps.

Looking for paint for a hot tub room

Looking for paint for a hot tub room is this suitable or is there a version that is ? Thanks
Asked by: Gjb11
Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. Bulls Eye 23 primer is suitable for areas of humidity, such as kitchens and bathrooms, due to the high humidity that will be created in the hot tub room, we wouldn't recommend this to be applied. Unfortunately, none of our other primers or top coats are suitable for this type of environment. I hope this helps.
