Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not diecast aluminium! Bought these from Screwfix over another supplier as these are listed as being diecast aluminium. Upon receiving them they are just plastic like the other suppliers, but more expensive from Screwfix. Waste of my time. Returned to store and bought from other supplier.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality I bought 3 of these PIR's as they would have been ideal for the job I needed them to do. Like the other reviews, they are not diecast as stated, the mounting holes and grommets are all in the wrong place and made to such poor quality. However. I installed them anyway because the lighting was needed but I regret it now because I have already had one fail and the others are constantly activating for no reason, they will have to go back. I am a fully qualified electrician so know what I'm doing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not my best Screwfix purchase This PIR seems to work Ok but for me its early days so time will tell. It’s tricky to wire up due to a poor design and lack of space. The instructions use weird grammar but the procedure is obvious. The quoted range is 12 metres max. Maybe this is true on a cold winter’s day; the most I managed was 4 metres with an outside air temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. The minus points are 1 The Screwfix catalogue and their web site describe the body as being die cast aluminium, mine isn’t its polycarbonate. 2 If you intend to fix the base of this PIR to a flat surface or an internal corner there should be no problem, but if the intended site is an external corner of brick your chances of success are small, the fixing holes are much too near to the brick edge, a cracked brick is almost guaranteed, I didn’t even try but I made my own bracket instead. Whoever designed the supplied mounting bracket should be strongly encouraged to pursue a less challenging career.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works well Good sensor and handy being able to mount on the corner of a building so you get coverage from both angles.

Adjusting the sensor

How do you actually adjust the dusk to dawn and time on with this PIR, unable to download instructions from Screwfix site and nothing in the box.
Asked by: McClintock
Answered this myself but for others :- there is a plastic ring with 2 flat surfaces on that you use to rotate the sensor head with - hold the flat surfaces and pull down gently - there you will see the adjustment dials. Ensure the flat surfaces are at sort of 3 & 9 position.

Can I power 2 lamps from just one PIR

Asked by: Jonwai
Yes of course . The sensor is only basically a switch and like any switch if all the ext lights are wired in series (daisy chained) after the sensor it can activate and handle up to the max wattage specified / light type. ie 300w max leds = eg: 6 x 50w led lights

Can this sensor also be mounted on a flat surface or is it just corner mount?

Asked by: dapeel
You can mount this unit to a flat surface. The rear angle face detaches allowing the back of the unit to screw flat against the wall. I have mine fitted this way!
