Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good while it lasted... Had 3 of these in place for just over a year now, but unfortunately the Master unit has now started playing up, effectively rendering it useless. It's a shame as it was good while it lasted, but now I've only got the options of buying a new unit to replace the dodgy one or reverting to the original sockets and using the pug-in Powerline adapters. Given the cost and hassle of fitting these versus using a Powerline adapter, I'll go with the latter

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does not meet expectations I bought this product along with an extra double socket from the same manufacturer with a view to improve WiFi reception around a house, which has a large chimney in the middle which creates a significant obstruction to WiFi signals to any part of the house which is "behind" the chimney. Following the instructions, I set the system up to act as a repeater of the main SSID from my ISP's router. The setup went almost exactly the way it was supposed to with the exception of the extra socket, on which the indicator lights stayed red and would not go green even when I rebooted the socket using the suggested pressing of two of the buttons for 20 seconds. I did manage to sort that out after a phone call to the support team who recommended turning the mains power off and on again. I then had three sockets all broadcasting the same SSID as my main router but I could not get a good signal from them in a couple of the areas in the house, which I most needed the boosted signal. I tried changing the channel on which they were broadcasting having used a WiFi analyser application, which I had installed on a smart phone, which suggested a different channel. No matter what I did, I could not get the socket units to broadcast on the specified channel. They all just broadcast on whatever channel they felt like using and it seemed they would change channel frequently. In the end, they turned out to be causing too much interference with my main router broadcast so I turned off the WiFi option and left them simply offering the powerline option. I have managed to make use of that by connecting a television using a CAT5 network cable to one of them. In the end, I have a rather expensive set of sockets, which are really only useful now for the one powerline connection and, if the need arises, USB charging sockets. I daresay that a network Guru might be able to make them work, armed with a greater understanding of the tricks needed to get a good WiFi signal from them but I was unable to do so myself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Connected Having had Ethernet connections all over the house using several old plug-in extenders, using up the available sockets. Fitting the WIFI CONNEKT kit and add-ons has improved connectivity and provided WiFi throughout the house and freed up loads of sockets which enabled removal of some extension leads as well. Brilliant Easily installed

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wifi Connekt Finally up and running and so far seems to be excellent. Dead spots in house now resolved. Did have problems setting the kit up via the instructions, after some frustration decided to give Group Gear a call. Spoke to Tom who explained that the set up via a Sky router is slightly different. Tom took the time to guide me through the set up and all is great. Only given 4 Stars for performance and reliability as not had in use long enough to give 5

IP CCTV feed in loft - view in Lounge. Can these be used in conjunction with an IP CCTV solution? If I have camera's wired to a POE switch in the loft, then connect to the socket, connect the second socket to my Sky Wifi router in the lounge.

separate ring main but through single consumer unit
Asked by: NoviceDYIer
This should work yes, the units act almost like a pass through for your main WiFi, the only thing to bear in mind is that the unit themselves don’t support PoE so you can’t power your cameras using the ethernet ports on the front of them. But as you have the PoE switch connecting that should allow it work.

Can these be used as an add on

i already have power line adaptors in my home but looking to build a summer house roughly 10 mtrs away will this work as an add on in the new building?
Asked by: padster32
These unfortunately do not work in conjunction with other powerline devices, the WiFi CONNEkT acts as a stand alone powerline device, purchasing the start kit however will allow you to utilise the WiFi from your main house to the summer house. You will need to put the Master unit in your main house and then the Add on unit in your summer house.

Do I need to install one near the router?

I wanna install the master and slave far from the router if possible or do I need to buy 3 one near the router and the other 2 far
Asked by: Renato
We recommend installing the Master near your router, this is so that the connection that the master receives and can distribute to the other units is stronger and won’t be interrupted.

What kind of speeds does this achieve? I have around 200mbps wired from router.

Asked by: Deanowolves
The WiFi CONNEkT uses 2.4GHz N Series WiFi this means that on WiFi speeds can reach 300mbps, the unit has 2 CAT 5e Ethernet ports meaning a wired connection can reach up to 100mbps.

Can these be hardwired with Ethernet Cable?

I want to install these in my bedrooms but I want Ethernet cable running behind the plasterboard and hard wiring theses wifi extender sockets, is that possible?
Asked by: Mani87
This product uses Powerline technology which alleviates the need to hard wire the product as it uses your current cabling to connect as if it was hard wired - any issues please call our techical helpline for advice. Thanks
