Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Little Planer Easy to use, switch on a little fiddly, but it really works well and is comfortable in the hand

Rated 4 out of 5 by from IMPRESSIVE LITTLE BEASTIE My eye was caught by the compact nature of this nifty, lil' planer and by the 'Deal of the Day' price, although when I got around to buying one, the price had reverted to its original level. Although its only 2.4 Kg, thats quite enough to wield with one hand. And it takes a bit of practice to manoeuvre it without a second grip handle, particularly when you might be used to using a planer conventionally, with both hands on handles. Indeed, you need to resist grabbing the tool in an unsafe place when recovering after a sweep/cut. For lighter, perhaps finer jobs, the blade speed and width, 420W and modest cutting depth are more than enough for the job, e.g. planing edge of a door. I'm pleased with the tool and feel I'll get used to it the more I use it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Faux reviews I purchased this PALM planer on account of the favourable reviews, or should I say FAUX reviews It is absolutely impossible to operate with one hand as it is ergonomically impossible and I defy anybody who claims different. Once the crook of the hand is in position to operate the thumb switch to turn on one can not then use any of the other 4 fingers to use the safety switch therefor it needs two hands to operate. Better off to use a normal plane.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not ideal for left-handers. Found this machine to be really uncomfortable to operate for a left handed person. The positioning of the on/off switch- which is on the left hand side -means a left handed person has to use their index finger to keep it pressed in all the time you are using it. This would be very tiring if you are planing for lengthy periods. A right handed person can use their thumb on the on/off switch - which is a stronger digit to use. Whichever handed you are it is still a heavy machine for its size, although it could be said the extra weight adds to stability. Can't comment on performance or reliability as I returned it without using it on wood. However, website doesn't accept your review unless you enter a value. The awkwardness of operating the on/off switch was a big disappointment for me and I knew immediately I would regret it if I kept it.
