Rated 1 out of 5 by from A little disappointed I had purchased this on the back of some healthy reviews I had read online, with the only real negative being that it likes to jam up because of the fins that are in the exit, presumably just to stop the stupid from sticking their arms up in it. That being said I probably foolishly cut them off and to some extent it was successful. My problem arose after about 15 minutes of running when I'd noticed a piece of shiny metal on the floor, on further investigation I realised that one of the blades shattered in half and the other one was in such a state of disrepair I didn't think it would cut effectively any more. Now here's the issue, I was more than willing to purchase a few of what must be cheap blades to complete my task but Screwfix do not stock the replacements which quite frankly is absurd. If it wasn't for the fact that I had cut out the tabs from the bottom, I would have taken it back. On a positive note though if you could fit it with some decent blades that weren't made out of cheaply manufactured metal, you have quite an effective tool.....You live and learn lol

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality machine Wheel broke on assembly and both blades shattered during the first use. Now I don’t seem to be able to find replacement blades.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not for branches with leaves Works very well for branches, especially if freshly cut. HOWEVER, if branches have leaves on it, then will not work - I wanted to shread an old laurel hedge and even though the branches shredded fine, and parts with leaves on just blocked the shreader so it had to be dismantled to remove leaf pulp. So leafy branches - no!... To be fair, the instruction manual does say ‘for fibrous and woody garden waste’ :)

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do not bother - useless Where do I start? The product claims to be able to shred up to 45mm. It couldn't shred branches any thicker than a pencil. Do not waste your time, you'll end up spending more time unblocking and restarting the product versus just chopping up manually by hand. Not only does it not shred properly its second biggest fault is the massive design flaw that the exit chute is too small. If you do manage to have it running for more than 2 minutes continuously, it'll almost certainly get blocked. I ended up cutting away some of the plastic to make the chute bigger which I know invalidated the warranty but it's pointless. There is no way the manufacturer can stand by claims it can shred up to 45mm or even work effectively. Never writen a screwfix review before and I'm not fussy but felt so annoyed I felt I had to.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great Whilst this is suitable for some small hedge cuttings, anyone with a significant amount of garden work to do should not buy. It is very slow but does the job.
Date published: 2019-02-19
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good value introduction Good value introduction to shredding. Cut a pile of old branches with no problems - got a bit clogged with the fresher stuff but the shredding are very useful in the garden.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Titan Did not get a chance to use it, has it came damaged. The fan fins on the motor was broken off in several places. Unfortunately this model is no longer available so a refund is being processed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy shredder. I have used this model of shredder in the past and was delighted with it's performance. So much that I decided to purchase my own. No problems so far and I don't expect that there will be. Looking forward to many years of shredding.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Don't Lose the Plunger Brought this last year, found it does what it says on the tin and thought we'd be generating heaps of compost of in no time. However I have misplaced the plastic plunger which is essential for safe operation and as screwfix can't replace it I can no longer safely use it. If you buy this shredder take care not to lose the plunger!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great shredder Bought this shredder to dispose of some branches, great performance, strangely therapeutic, definitely prefers straight branches but can handle small branches too
Date published: 2018-12-30
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Shredded 3 christmas trees and a load of bamboo no problem at all. Very quiet too. Agree with the earlier reviews though, you need to cut the teeth out of the waste chute otherwise it blocks up easily, but once that was done it never blocked again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quiet and produces fine shreds I used to have a Lidle Shredder a few year ago, and it was really loud, and produced shreds were not fine. So I was a bit pessimistic with this Titan shredder. But this is a totally different level of machine. It is quiet and produces fine shreds which is very useful for mulching. And it works so smooth. I recommend it highly.
Date published: 2018-12-26
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value Ideal for munching up small branches into compost, meaning far fewer trips to the tip. Blocks occasionally during use, even with the pointless internal splines removed, but easily cleared and reset.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Shredder Good value for money. Works well and easy to move around.
Date published: 2018-12-16
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor design Ok for shredding a few hedge clippings but not really up to anything more onerous. Motor works well but let down by poorly designed and constructed cabinet which jams easily and the cover of which becomes detached.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So pleasing! Very quick to put together. Used a Freinds before and was impressed. So I bought one!
Date published: 2018-12-15
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for me Bought this to shred a large amount of garden rubbish from trees and hedges. used it for a day and whilst it was very capable at shredding medium-size branches it really struggled with smaller twigs as it clogs up the rotors and the exit chute. Day two I decided it was more trouble than it was worth and returned it. Usual no problems refund from Screwfix though.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for home shredding Second year of relatively heavy home use, and it still keeps going! For the price, this is a super piece of kit, bearing in mind that it's light-duty and takes a while to feed stuff through - but very suitable for the average DIYer. I'm still on the original cutting edges (reversible double edged blades), and my only concern is that replacement blades seem hard to find.
Date published: 2018-12-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good bit of kit. Works well, I have a large selection of brambles and branches, deals with it well. Even the wife like using it.
Date published: 2018-12-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bit of kit Bought this to shred conifers I cut down in back garden, does the job well. Also lent it to my next door neighbour, who happens to be Adam Woodyatt aka Ian Beale, and he was very impressed with its performance. So I can announce that Adam Woodyatt unofficially approves of the garden shredder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value For Money This was much better than expected and great to use. Can block occasionally with stringy fresh wood but great value for money.
Date published: 2018-12-02
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value Like other Titan products, functionally good and excellent price. Bit "plasically" built so not sure how will it will handle the hard life it will get! Delivery by ParcelForce is not good as they don't (like other providers) offer alternatives if receiver might not be at home.
Date published: 2018-11-28
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good tool The shredder is built to last. The quality is visible in the engine, quiet and powerful and the cutting blades. The shape could be improved to allow an easier outflow of the shredded material. The supports could be re-designed to allow easier folding and un-mounting. The shredder produced a very convincing throughput as advertised. The quality and shape of the chippings is very regular allowing them to be used as mulch or compacted and re-cycled.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from To shred or not to shred - NOT Having read the reviews this product seemed just what I wanted. How wrong can you be...!!!! We put it together , read the instructions and went off to shred some small branches which we had prunded off one of our trees. The shredder struggled to cope with even the smallest branch and within a short space of time started to smell of burning and had smoke coming out. What should have been a quick job with this machine ended up taking much longer as we resorted to the secateurs . The best part of this saga was the gentleman in the store who listened to what had happened and gave us a full refund . Really disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Shred-u-like Super value for money. Took down the neighbours horse chestnut. It was a beast and the shredder devoured it. We really gave it a good hammering. Ended up with three wheelie bins of chippings !!!! Easy to operate and worked much better than a neighbours much more expensive version. Thoroughly recommend it. Make sure you feed it newly cut wood as it was fed some old dry branches and didn’t like it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great shredder Just spent an afternoon shredding a large pile of garden waste. This machine shredded the material very finely and had no problem with thicker branches as well as small twigs. Be aware that when shredding conifer branches it seems to become blocked much more frequetly, try feeding these branches through slowly to help reduce blockages.
Date published: 2018-10-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super little shredder As this is the cheapest shredder Screwfix sell I wasn't expecting too much from it but I am really impressed. Just shove a branch in and once it gets a grip it self feeds and devours it in seconds. I've shredded a big conifer and general tree branches and it handles everything I've fed it with ease up to around 40mm diameter, just don't ask too much of it as it does have its limits. Makes great mulch and is reasonably quiet. Blades are also reversible. I used to borrow my neighbours much more expensive Bosch shredder and this knocks spots off it for a fraction of the price. Don't know how long it will last but so far, so good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Value for money shredder Straight out of the box and 5 minutes later it's in the garden all built up ready to work...simple to put together with the tools supplied.easy to use with simply to access on off switch. Let's get started !!! Started with small sticks and then in no time it was eating large branches up to 40-45mm with no problems, even had the wife using it with no issues ,only issue I had was trying to put to much in as it would block the outlet but no issue quickly open up clear the debris and it's off again.for the price and what it can do why pay double the money. I would recommend this item with 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent little helper After I read many reviews for shredders I decided to purchase the Titan TTB353SHR This item seemed to be the best choice for my needs. I was not disappointed. I am very happy with my purchase, the price and the supersonic delivery.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does a job I needed to shred a load of hedge clippings. This worked well for the larger diameter clippings and the drier stuff but for thinner, green stems it often clogged up. As pretty much every other reviewer has noted, the little 'fins' inside the bottom of the chute add to the jams. I'll be removing these before the next use.

Would the shredder shred all dry paper and cardbord?

Blade bolt removal direction

Given the apparent difficulty in removing the over-tight blade bolts, someone must have done it and knows the direction (conventional or otherwise) to undo. So as not to waste time, are they conventional, or do they unscrew clockwise? Cheers
Asked by: JauntyJoss
The bolts that hold the blades on are normal threads, ie turn left to remove. These can be replaced with M6x12 countersunk bolts. I would recommend a good quality stainless steel bolt. The bolt holding the blade cutting plate onto the motor is a REVERSE threaded bolt.

Advice on removing stuck blades bolts

Had this shredder for a few years and it's been brilliant but the blades are blunt and dinged and need replacing. I know how to remove them, the problem is I can't for the life of me physically get the bolts undone! It's like they're welded. Any ideas?
Asked by: unclBenni
They are normal hex bolts - just manufactured way too tight. A quality/precision longer allen Key is the best best. They'll either undo with enough strength or you'll round the head.......

Can you make compost from the output of this?
Asked by: Guestie
I think you'll confuse screw fix with the question here!! Yes, you can compost shredding - indeed they may well compost quicker. However what compost you get and how quickly it breaks down / how good the compost it makes is a function of the type of thing you've shredded, not the shredder!

Anyone used this to shred backup tapes?

Strange question, I know.
Asked by: Dbro984
No. It's a rotating impact shredding blade - i.e. a disc with razor blades mounted in gaps. It works on solid material - tree branches, etc, and needs constant pressure applying to feed them through. If you tried to shred tapes they will just wrap around the disc and jam the whole thing up. You'll need a heavy duty office shredder for destroying storage tapes, which use rollers to grind the material up.
