is this heater compatible with an external timeswitch

Yes this heating element will work with a inline timer as if the timer switches it off it will remember its settings once it comes back on again.

Is this product supplied with a chrome tee piece?
A tee piece is required if the towel rail is to be heated by electric (for summer) and central heating (for winter).
Is this included with the heating element?

The Terma heating elements are not supplied with a T-Piece as we offer these in different colours. They need to be bought separately.

Is this the MOA model & power consumption?
Hi,
Is this your MOA model with 2 hours.
It's replacing a non-stat 350w & hope this 400w with stat will use less power or is it likely to have to work flat out anyway to maintain the higher temps (assuming not in a v.cold room)

Hello. The MOA element does have a 2 hour drying function. A 400w element will use a little more power than a 350w of course - but will heat up quicker and therefore regulate in slightly shorter cycles. This is a minimal difference in wattage. The MOA BLUE is the next model up which offers full 7 day timer functionality via smartphone.

technical question. is the stat monitoring the water temperature inside the rail or the external room temperature?

Hello. With the "MOA" heating element the thermostat is monitoring the internal temperature within the radiator. If you would like an element which offers the choice of the internal radiator temp or the ambient room temp you need to buy the "MOA Blue" heating element instead which is smartphone controlled. At present Screwfix don't offer this model on its site - but you'll find the element online to enable a fair comparison between the two.
