A 1/2" tap connector seems obvious but the tap has been shaped to be part of a compression jointt. This means that the end is thin; is it wide enough to make a secure joint or do I need to insert a short length of pipe and compression joints?
Hello NotjohnCR2,
I think you may be saying that there is an internal chamfer on the end of the thread that looks as though it is a seat for an olive, but it will not be for this purpose and these taps require 1/2" BSP tap connectors (with rubber sealing washer inside the nut). In fact, a narrower seat for the rubber sealing washer may create a better seal, as it will create an indent in the washer.
Thank you for using Screwfix Q&A.
