Smith & Locke Medium Duty Push-Button Lock (5661J)

Hello, If these locks are brand new, and only recently been fitted the issue could be caused through misalignment/bind. We would recommend removing the locks, then test the latch operation ‘in hand’. Does the latch bolt retract and spring back rotating the spindle? If the latch works off the door this proves the latch is not at fault. The next step would be to check the door thickness against the length of the spindle. The last 15mm section of the spindle should be snapped/cut off for doors less than 50mm thick. If this is left in place it can cause the problem you have described. We would also recommend checking the mortice for the latch ensuring there is no timber left floating inside the recess, the hole has been prepared to the correct size, and the spindle hole drilled out to suit. Device isn't needed. Just unscrew the cover from inside Remove the lock mechanism Move the different coloured parts of the lock to slot into the numbers/letters you want to be the new code. Re-assemble everything.
