Rated 5 out of 5 by from great pack and strong screws Im a DIYer not trade but got sick of buying cheap screws and the top being stripped by my electric screwdriver. These are a different class and will last me a good while, not as cheap as the ones on a famous website but far far better quality. As they say buy cheap buy twice. Highly recommended.

Silver vs Gold screws.

Screwfix should surely drop the Gold Range. Waste of storage space & confusing & increased costs?
Asked by: Sinnerman
Hello Sinnerman, Our silver and gold wood screws in a pack of 1000 are the same price so i depends on what colour you are looking for. The turboscrews in gold are slightly more expensive as they do a different job. Hopefully this resolves what you were saying. Thank you for using Q&A

Does this require a pilot hole, can it be drilled directly into masonary

Asked by: Sajapp01
Hello. This screw does requires a pilot hole. You may want to look at the Turbo ranges which will not require a pilot hole, has a rifled shank which collects the swarf and has better pull-out strength. Hope that helps. Thank you for using Q&A.

Difference between these and Goldscrews ?

So it would appear that the only difference is the colour, not even the price. So why bother with Goldscrews at all ?! Why not just use Silverscrews for all stages of the job ? Surely there is more to it.
Asked by: PeteV
Different colour finishes are the difference between the two products, there is nothing more to it than that.

What is the practical difference between the silverscrew and the goldscrew?

Asked by: cpbrierley
Hello Thank you for your question. There is no difference in the Silverscrew and Goldscrew ranges except for the colour. Both are single thread, double-countersunk and can be used for wood, plastic, metal, masonry and 1mm sheet metal. Normally the Goldscrew range would be used in first fix applications as you wouldn't see the exposed screw head and the Silverscrew range would be used for second fix applications as you would see the exposed screw head. The TurboGold and TurboSilver range is different from the standard GoldScrew and SilverScrew range. The Turbo ranges will not require a pilot hole, has a rifled shank which collects the swarf and has better pull-out strength.
