Are these polished chrome as image shows or Matt as description ?

Do these screw in from the same side as the handle, or from the opposite side of the door?

I'm after placing these on either side of a door, so can't screw through from the opposite side of the door.

A previous answer said that these screw in from the front. They don't. I just bought a pair of these handles for some sliding doors and discovered that they screw in from the back (on a drawer, that would be from the inside). Not what I wanted! The screw heads in the photo are "mock" screw heads to make it look like they're screwed in from the front.
