Rated 1 out of 5 by from wrong colour inside tin Purchased ronseal wood filler light but when I opened the tin the contents were an ochre/redbrick colour
Date published: 2020-06-22
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mr As a product it is very good, but it states light, so one would expect it to be for light wood and would be the same colour as on the container. But it was a terracotta colour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent finish Great product. Applied very smoothly and easy to sand leaving a great finish

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good filler Easy to use, easy to stand and easy to paint, drys quick so if your building up doesn’t take long

Rated 5 out of 5 by from perfect wood filler easy to use, easy to sand , easy to paint. great product and I wouldn't use anything else.
Date published: 2020-05-14
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Strange colour, however.... I bought this before I read the other reviews. Then I opened it it saw the colour that was mentioned. But hey, ho, I wasn’t going to waste it. When dried it was still orange. After sanding it had filled in all the cracks around the knots I was filling and to be honest anyone who didn’t know won’t notice the colour. It sanded smooth, done it’s job and although not particularly light, it didn’t detract from my finish...an outdoor table made from white wood btw.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Very orange This was supposed to be a natural colour but I used it on old pine doors and windows and it dried orange which isn’t very natural! Not ideal and I had to go and get something else. As a product it’s good in that it does what it says but the colour was way off
Date published: 2020-05-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent filler he is an excellent product thats easy to use with great results Does exactly what it says on the table
Date published: 2020-05-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ronseal light wood filler Easy to use, sands well, stains and paints well. Good drying time. Good stuff.
Date published: 2020-05-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product but quite pricey Does what intended for but quite pricey. Leaves an orange tinge but easily sanded away.
Date published: 2020-05-12
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fills the holes.... Product does what it says on the pot. Easy to work with for a complete novice
Date published: 2020-05-11
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not like it says on the tin The tin shows a natural looking off/white yellowy colour. and it says 'Light' on the tin.Just what i needed for light oak flooring. The actual substance has a bright salmon red/ orange appearance, and looks ridiculously unnatural on the light oak. I would not reccomend it, unless your flooring is salmon red!
Date published: 2020-04-27
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to work with This filler has an excellent smooth consistency and is easy to work into holes. Sticks very well. Not much in a pot but is is very reliable. Only problem with pre mixed fillers is them going hard in the pot - Next time I will try a powder wood filler.
Date published: 2020-04-11
Rated 4 out of 5 by from white wood filler white wood filler, ? does wot it says, let it dry over night, sand, x2 coats of chosen paint, stand back & admire, purchased a decorators knife/scraper too
Date published: 2020-04-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wood filler Great. Item did the job good colour match for the oak I used it on
Date published: 2020-03-06
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what it says on the tub! This is an apparently simple good value wood filler. However, it is described on Screwfix website, and on the tub, as 'Light' and the colour sample on the tub is indeed light. Unfortunately the filler is not: it is a fairly dark orange! I returned it to Screwfix who refunded (as always). They also checked another sample which was the same. I hope someone tells the manufacturers. Can't comment on use or reliability as I did not use.
Date published: 2020-02-29
Rated 3 out of 5 by from good product the filler works great but the colour does not match the label, its called 'light' but on opening its a red colour, I was expected something close to a pine colour. I was told at screwfix that's what ronseal consider light, as I was over painting it didn't matter but would have been useless if I was using varnish.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality Product is great quality as you would expect from this brand.
Date published: 2020-01-25
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy no fuss Quick and easy no fuss drys in fast timewould only recommend for smaller areas
Date published: 2019-12-25
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable as always One of the few wood fillers that you can trust to do the job. Applies beautifully, dries in a reasonable time to sand back to a lovely smooth finish to blend in any imperfections. Doesn't crumble or shrink either like some of it's competitors. Yes it is expensive for the size of the pot, but you get what you pay for.
Date published: 2019-12-17
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Does exactly what it says on the tub.... easy to apply, shapes well, sands down nicely!
Date published: 2019-12-11
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does The Job Used this brand and type of filler a lot over the Years. It’s easy to work and sand and takes finishes quite well. Easy to use as no mixing required however this particular tub may have been on the shelf for some time as it was a bit dry and stiff.
Date published: 2019-12-02
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Performs as it states I have used other products previously and none have matched or outperformed this product. Used it to fill screw countersunk holes and it was ready to sand to a smooth finish within four hours drying in a cold garage. Recommended.
Date published: 2019-11-05
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Colour Misleading Wanted to fill some drilled holes in a pine frame, so chose this as it stated it was light. on opening it found it to be a reddish colour, more suitable for Mahogany / Teak coloured woods. Could not return as it was in a sealed pot, Does state for light coloured woods, and the actual colour no way matches the sample colour on the pot
Date published: 2019-10-21
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Wood Filler Fixes well to the wood, dries quickly and sands down to a smooth finish.
Date published: 2019-10-18
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light in name, heavy in result Great size tub for all those little niggles indoors and out - especially at this time of year when the garden furniture is going away and fences need a little tlc.
Date published: 2019-09-26
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wood filler Good product. Great value and works well. Cant fault it.
Date published: 2019-09-20
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good stuff I used this product to fill the cracks in a front door that I was sanding back to bare wood and varnishing. Colour wasn't spot on but I didn't expect it to be. Drying took over 2 hours but this wasn't a problem. All in all a good product at a decent price. The only negative is I would like a smaller pack for small jobs as I end up binning these pots after a year or two in the shed!
Date published: 2019-09-11
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful Used this to fill some small holes in oak . It actually dries a dark orange colour. I can’t imagine what colour wood this would actually match. Even when varnished it’s orange. Totally awful. Do yourself a favour and avoid

Hi, can this wood filler be stained? Thanks

Asked by: Dazzah4369
Hi, A stain would lay over our Multipurpose Wood Filler but it wouldn't take the stain so we would recommend matching up the colour of the filler to the wood as best as you can. Ronseal

Can an oil or wax be applied to the filled areas after? Using it to fill a mitred architrave and want to apply a colored oil after.

Asked by: Bergybuilds
Thank you for your enquiry. You should always chose a filler as close to the finish colour as possible. This means that the filler will be less apparent. The product is fairly dense when dry so the receptiveness to and oil is minimal. I hope this helps

Would this be suitable to fill parquet flooring small gaps prior to applying Hard Wax Oil ? Thank you.

Asked by: Freddy9999
Thank you for contacting us. This product can be used to fill imperfections in parquet flooring, however if there is any movement there could be a risk of this cracking. It would not be suitable for example between normal floor boards. It is also worth testing on a off cut of wood to ensure that the product works well with the Hard Wax Oil and appears to your satisfaction. I hope this helps.

Veneer

Would this be suitable for repairing minor/medium chips in wooden veneer?
Asked by: Tony2017
Thank you for your enquiry. We would not recommend the use of Multi Purpose Wood filler for use on veneered surfaces as the water the filler contains could soak in a delaminate the veneer.

Will this be ok to fill the gaps in the mitres on real wood skirting? I'm not painting it but leaving it wood.

Asked by: Martin1976
This filler is designed to fill nail holes and imperfections in wood, any movement in the mitre joints may lead to the product cracking out. If the wood is stable then it could be used in this situation.

Hi when filling screw and nail holes in wooden trim, would i need to use an oil based primer first or can this just go straight into the holes? cheers

Asked by: PrecisionPainters
Thanks for your question. Yes it would be a good idea to use an oil based primer first to eliminate the possibility of any corrosion as the filler is water based.

Chipboard filling

Would this product be suitable to fill the hairline gaps for my newly laid chipboard floor then sanded back to flush?
Asked by: Citykev
Thanks for your question. Unfortunately we wouldn't recommend it for the gaps, as the boards move it is likely the filler will crack, it may be better to leave the gaps unfilled.
