It's not so much the size (or the weight) of the basin that is relevant, its more the distance apart the fixing holes in the back of the basin itself are.
For really large basins, say 1m or larger, the fixing holes can be 600mm or even 800mm apart, in which case the plate won't work as the maximum distance the bolts adjust to are 300mm apart.
The fixing positions however for by far the majority of basins on the market, range from 200-300mm apart.
