Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smooth screws Hi, if your after a wood screws that will go through super foil insulation then theses are the ones recommend. I tried using turbogold screws but they snag around the material insulation due to the self drill bit. I contacted the insulation company and they recommended silver screws which went into the battens and through the insulation without snagging around the 19 layer insulation. Turbo gold screws are great for wood to wood without having to pre drill.

What does the ga in 8ga mean?

I’ve always bought quicksilver 8 x 1”, for example. Now I see specifications that say 8ga The boxes I have all say just 8 x whatever Is there some info please ?
Asked by: Dysgwr70
Hello Dysgwr70, Yes, if the length is still stated in inches then the '8' will still mean '8 gauge' (8ga), which equates to a thread diameter of approximately 4mm. Thank you for using Screwfix Q&A.

What diameter head are these as the description I think contradicts itself. It says 6mm bu then on the more info tab it says 3.5mm? Thanks

would these be suitable for securing my kitchen units together

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi I would say no these are only 5/8 - 16mm long your cabinet sides will be between 15-18mm each side, so I would go with something nearer to 25mm for 15mm sides and 30mm for 18mm sides bearing in mind you will countersink them best practice put them under the hinges to hide, these are ok for fixing concealed hinges to the cabinet doors on a 18mm door. they do actually sell special bolts for this purpose though.
