Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality from makita Got this drill as I needed a new one and wanted to try a different brand. Worked great out the box, battery life seemed to be good. During fitting some new radiators the thing burned out with smoke coming out the back, I wouldn't have been so annoyed if I was pushing it to its limit but I was only using 16mm spade bit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Makita DHP453RFW Very well packaged. Feels like it will do any job. Bought this as an Xmas present for my son who works in the building trade so a performance/reliability update will be included in a couple of months time. I'm sure the star rating won't change though.

Another battery question

I have a Makita DHP453SY which appears to be discontinued. If I buy this drill will the batteries work with my old charger? is there any way to tell which batteries will work with which chargers in general?
Asked by: Ansley
The 4.0 and 5.0 ah 18v Li-ion batteries will work with your 18v machine if it has a star on the connector plate, a yellow connector plate with a star or has a yellow connector plate. Please see attached link for chargers http://www.makitauk.com/accessories/batteries/chargers.html

Is the battery comparable with other Mikita tools for example the chordless plane DKP180Z

I had the twin pack 18v combo and impact driver and didn't realise until after it wasn't compatible with the LXT range that's all. Many thanks Adam
Asked by: Ads4124

Is it possible to have the charger with EU electric plug?

Asked by: Tiggy71
hello Tiggy71. Our range of Makita chargers are generally supplied with UK specification plugs unless stated otherwise in the product content. At time of writing we do not currently range a Makita charger with a 110V plug.
