LET DOWN BADLY BY FLIMSEY WEAK SECTION RETAINING BRACKETS.been using this for a time and was happy, then noticed that the sliding section retaining bars which hold the ladder sections in place whilst perfectly strong enough were held in flimsey brackets, the brackets are made of such weak thin steel held with only two pop rivets either side (totally inadequate,) the brackets have bent after taking the user's weight making the ladder unsafe, I have had to add extra pop rivets to try and hold the brackets firmly and prevent them distorting and bending. I would not buy this ladder given a second chance. the maker could easily overcome this problem by redesigning and making the brackets out of a stronger thickness of steel, and adding extra fixings.

If you can afford it, get this
I originally purchased the cheaper 3 section ladder but a product recall meant that I had to upgrade to this version. So glad.
This option has the spring arm controlled descent whilst the cheaper model drops out of the sky in a threatening lump. It has smoother linkages and a steel placement rod instead of the soft aluminium rod previously.
This is a great ladder and the proof of the pudding is that my wife would not touch the earlier model but has no issues with this.
Wy not 5 star all round? Well the spring arm must be mounted on the opposite side to the excellent grab rail but this obstructs both sides when sliding larger boxes uphill. And the descent is not quite evenly controlled as its a bit one-sided. However happy to recommend as a sturdy, high reach and high quality product.
