Rated 5 out of 5 by from Old model but still worth usin I've bought this in November 2021 so it is essentially an old item now but still relevant. I have a selection of the gen1 smart plugs and because this link is available at a low price I have got it. It was really easy to set up, and assign the plugs to it. The app takes a bit of figuring out but it does have some great features and can connect it to Alexa so have voice control for the connected devices. There are still quite a few gen1/connect switches, sockets and other smart devices available for use with this link so will be building up a smart home collection at a relatively low cost compared to other systems available.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Obsolete This link will not work with the latest components. I have just bought a replacement socket and it would not link to the app or remote controls. Lightwave Tech Support have told me to upgrade to Link Plus. The new sockets operate on a different frequency.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lightwave v Hive I saw a review which rubbished Lightwave and promoted Hive. I have never found anyone who liked Hive, they all said they wish it had never been fitted. Lightwave has a more comprehensive range of switches and works well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from LightwaveRF Failed Bought LightwaveRF around a year ago from Screwfix to Control our heating. Initially we were very pleased with it and it gave good performance up until an upgrade of the app. Since then the system has been very poor, almost unworkable. Technical queries to the manufacturer are rarely answered unless you post publicly on their Facebook site. I moved over to Hive and it’s night and day the difference. Sorry to give up on LightwaveRF but the customer support is atrocious. Anyone thinking of buying Lightwave products I would advise you have a read of the comments on their Facebook page first and draw your own opinions.

what is the WiFi range? How far away can a light switch be from the web link device?

Asked by: mgsayer
Hi there, many thanks for your question. This is very much dependant on the type of house, what the house is made from. Usually the Web Link is the same as a standard Router. Depending on where it is placed within your home, you should find sufficient range across your home and Garden. For any further help or assistance, please contact the Lightwave customer helpline.
