Rated 2 out of 5 by from Plunged into darkness Installing was super easy, popped off the old switch and then popped on the new dimmer. Just a couple of screws and two wires in my case. Live in and a switched live out. Couldn't have been easier. Setting up with my existing remote was simple, put the device into pairing mode, click of a button and paired. One of the first things I noticed was a limited dimming range but that was easily remedied by entering the "secret" settings menu and increasing the range on the dimmer itself. Job done.... or so I thought. Everything was great up until this point. Next day, less than 24 hours after installing the thing just went pop and it was no more. I was sat there working away in the office with the light on when I was suddenly plunged into complete darkness. The dimmer had seemingly died, I went over to check what was wrong and the first thing I noticed was it was red hot to the touch and smelled of burning however nothing was visibly wrong the indicator lights on the front of the dimmer seemed to work and it responded to the remote control. I have to say I'm quite disappointed, it could just be a one-off dud but unfortunately, its put me off getting any more. I'm just glad I installed it myself and that I didn't pay for an electrician or it could have been costly. Screwfix was very good in refunding me, no quibbling, I just took it back to the store I originally collected it from and they instantly took it back and the refund was back in my account the next day.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn't work! Installation seemed trouble free, but it just wouldn't work, it only switches lights on and off, but doesn't dim them. When I contacted Lightwave customer support, they said it only works with a very selective list of E27 LED light bulbs. I tried it with LAP and Samsung bulbs, both of which work fine with other dimmer switches, but doesn't work with this one. I've now replaced it with a much cheaper push dimmer switch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for automating lights. I’ve had LightwaveRF plugin products for a few years. This is my first purchase that I have wired to the mains. I’ve wired it to the kitchen to control the dimmable downlighters(lights need to be dimmable) Very easy to install. Works great in conjunction with lightwave app and remote. Have also purchased the LightwaveRF sensor which turns on the kitchen lights and will turn them off when no more movement is detected. Will have to wait and see about reliability.

Lightwave

Does this switch need a neutral?
Asked by: Shumie
According to the Lightwave website, these do not need the extra neutral, can be wired into an existing socket. Reviews elsewhere do state that there is very little room in a standard 35mm back box. Please note, to work as 'smart' these switches also need the Lightwave hub to connect to

Maximum LEDs.

Hi, I have 12 dimmable LEDs (Not downlights), and have read that some dimmer switches will only run a maximum of 10 bulbs, irrespective of the wattage of each bulb. What's the maximum you can run through this switch? Thanks
Asked by: Domble
There is a large amount of current needed to start up an LED light, although it is for a fraction of a second. Some leeway is needed in that circuit's maximum demand. The switch and the circuit will need to be robust enough to handle that.
