Which end is the mains lead?
Am I right in thinking that the cable is on the right with the switch facing forward, so you couldn't have the cable on the left because the switch would be facing the back?

This product is supplied with a 3-pin plug and transformer to be plugged into a socket. They cannot be operated by a lightswitch.

On / Off Switch
If you use them linked up do you have to switch each light on and off individually or can you turn on a whole string of lights from just one of them. We need something to light up our loft eaves so need to be able to switch on and off from one point.

If you use the supplied linking leads they won't need to be plugged individually, just at one point. The wattage of these lights governs how many can be linked. With this 15w version it is possible to link six.
