Rated 1 out of 5 by from No stars! It's typical Screwfix. It's either broken or faulty. Both earth terminals wouldn't release, which is perfect for DIY Dave and his no earthing concept, but for the rest of us that us the earth wire, it is deadly critical its connected. Completely at the end of my rope with Screwfix.

Have fitted this switch, but the neon light is on all the time should it be on? I have seen two different answers to this question one saying it should be on and the other saying it shouldn't and it has been wired incorrectly. I would like to know which?

I have seen two different answers to this question one saying it should be on and the other it has been wired incorrectly, which is correct and why are there two conflicting answers?
Asked by: Razz99999
The light should only come on when there is power to whatever it is supplying (usually a shower). If the light is on all the time it means that it is wired incorrectly. It means that the 'permanent live' and the 'switched live' need swapping over in the 'live' terminals to remedy this problem.

Is this switch suitable for use with a bathroom fan?

Asked by: Mikeledbury
Hello, It depends on the ampage of the fan. This pull cord is 50amp, so may be too large for a smaller amp fan. (These pull cords are typically used for connection to showers which have a large ampage). It really depends on the fans requirements. I would look at the instruction manual/contact the manufacturers for your bathroom fan to see which switch/pullcord they advise. Thanks for using Q&A.

What is the required tightening torque for the terminals?

Asked by: exfreeflier
Hello exfreeflier, There is not torque rating, they just need to be tight enough to hold the cable securely. Thank you for using Q&A SW

Neon lamp not functioning correctly

I’ve fitted the switch and the on / off pull action correctly energises and isolates the shower. The neon lamp however is permanently on regardless of the state of the switch. Is this correct?
Asked by: njenks
Hello The neon should only be on when the shower is no could be wired the wrong way round will cause the same problem we recommend contacting a a qualified trades person. Thanks for using Q&A
