Intumescent Fire Door Seal White 15 x 4 x 1050mm 5 Pack (74713)

Self-adhesive, single fire door seal. Pearlescent silver finish to match satin anodised aluminium, chrome and stainless steel door furniture. Intumescent fire seals expand in the event of a fire and seal off the gap between the door and the frame, preventing the spread of fire and smoke. For maximum effectiveness, they need to be rebated into either the door frame or the door itself. It is very important to fit the correct size seal, please always check fire door manufacturers instructions. As a guide, only use 15mm seals on new door application and 10mm seals for replacement/retrofitting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says! Decent price strips that do what they say. We do a lot of fire work on HMO's and commercial jobs, the Screwfix intu strips are a great price and work well allowing us to comfortably conform with fire regs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Order correct seal Having read other reviews it would seem that people have bought this 'fire only' seal (without a brush pile) instead of the 'fire and smoke' seal (see product on website that has the brush pile). When you're ordering fire seals you need to know whether you need it to be a smoke seal as well (not always required). This product is excellent value and if you need a smoke seal as well then search site for the Firestop Fire AND Smoke seal, shows with a brush running down the middle. If in doubt, ask your fire inspector to specify, can't complain about a product if you bought the wrong one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Will Not Pass a Fire Risk Asse I purchased these to replace a few that were missing from my fire doors at the hotel. I was told during my fire risk assesment that they were not acceptable and that they needed to be replaced with combined smoke and intumescent seal so I had to replace them all again.

What way around should the seals be installed?

Should the seals be installed with the plastic face to the door, or the open (brush) face to the door?
Asked by: JohnnyBot
Hello JohnnyBot, This product should be installed with the brush facing outwards so that it is visible when the door is open. Thank you for using Q&A (CW)

what size fire door seal do i need?

how do i know if i need it to be 10mm wide or 15mm wide. I have a fire door already that is not yet rooted out. I'm getting a carpenter in to do that soon. in these circumstances should i go for the 10 or 15mm wide option.
Asked by: yalealarm
When you purchase a fire door it will come with a label that will tell you what you need (hinges, lining, intumescent strip, etc...) to correctly install the fire door and for the door's certificate to be valid. If the door does have the label then the top edge of the door will have the details of the door model and its certification, using this you can look up the fire certificate on the manufacturers website and see all the possible ways to install the door and have a valid certificate.
