Rated 5 out of 5 by from hive smart tvr and body As I have already got a hive system in my home decided to try one out first as there seems to be a lot of bad reviews was easy to fit after draining the system as the lounge radiator was a standard valve (needed draining after 6 years and replenishing with fernox) filled the system and bled and then paired the valve which took about 10 seconds then switched the heating on to calibrate which failed the first time so read the instructions correctly and after a few hours reported calibrated ok and works perfectly so will be ordering more for the rest of my system.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hive TRV's in a 3-bed house Very impressed with this product. We have 2-zone heating (upstairs/downstairs) with thermostats in the living room and the bedroom. Initially we only put Hive TRV's in those rooms without the thermostats so the thermostats and the temp monitoring in the TRV's don't argue with each other in those rooms. This works ok if you want the living room heated (happy days kitchen controls to a lower temp), but not so much if you want the kitchen heated, because you don't have a controlled valve in the living room so you have to heat the living room to get the kitchen heated. Luckily the Hive thermostats are wireless so I am buying 2 more to fit out all the rooms and move the thermostats to the hallway and the landing. Hope this helps!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Hive TRVs are great. I have just fitted 4 Hive TRVs in my house and I think they are great! I was a bit nervous seeing quite a few very negative reviews, but they have been great. It seems a lot of the frustration comes with the radiators being cold/slow to get hot. The instructions state that it will take up to 4 hours to initially calibrate and the first hour the TRV will turn your radiator off. After calibration the valve goes through a continues learning process that may take a little while if your heating isn't on much. In short, be patient. Allow the TRVs to do what it says they need to do and hopefully you ll be as happy with them as me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Had a few minor issues setting up but more my fault than Hives. Batteries were low on a couple. Fantastic system although you do need to keep doors on heated rooms pushed to, to really get the benefit. It’s the first time my large Victorian house has been really warm in the sitting room & the kitchen. The rest of the house is cool, as it should be. Plus I only heat rooms when we use them so the sitting room is only heated 7-11pm. I just heat my home office during the days I WFH. The room boost is useful too for example if you want to have a bath & the heating has been off in the bathroom. You do need to have one on each radiator though which is a significant cost so only worth doing in a larger house in my opinion.

will the valve work has a stand alone trv without the hub

Hi Phil, the valve would work as a non smart valve if you d not have a hub, meaning you would not be able to control it remotely. For the best performance we recommend having a hive hub and hive active heating. The Hive Team

if you set a bedroom temp to 20 and the rest of house on 18 do the boiler just warm that bedroom upto the 20 or all click off when house gets to 18 degrees?

Hi Mazdacx, It would depend on the set up of your heating and how many valves you have. You can control the temperature of each Hive Radiator Valve in the Hive app, setting a schedule for each one to only heat those rooms when you want them warm. The other unconnected rooms would warm up whenever your main thermostat switches the boiler on, unless you turn those radiators down manually. Remember that if you have a Hive thermostat and use Heat On Demand to warm up a room with a Hive Radiator Valve in it, you may also warm up any other rooms that don’t have a Hive Radiator Valve. Does this valve body come with a radiator tail and compression fitting?

Does this valve come with 15mm olive and backing nut and does it come with a radiator tail, if so what size thread is on the tail?
