Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dont `Glue` Skirtings These little gems make fixing skirts a doddle. Pilot and counterbore (to allow head to go deep enough for a bit of filler) then hold skirting in place, drill through into wall and tap these in, finish off last few mill with driver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trusted Nylon Hammerfix I have used a lot at all of projects. I always recommend this.
Date published: 2019-12-04
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not thick enough plastic I'm a big fan of Fischer products as they are usually superior to cheaper alternatives, but these in 6mm form are too thin and flimsy. I wanted to fix some battens, and the plastic plug would bend and twist when postitioning then if you tried to hammer in before completely pushed into the wall they would pre-expand. I found myself drilling larger than required holes in the battens then pushing the fixing right through by hand, which added plenty of time to the job when battening a whole wall. The next day I picked up a box of the 8mm ones, and worked perfect. The extra 2mm is enough to make then fit for purpose and up to the usual Fischer standard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fixings Used these to fix resilient bars to wall for dry lining and they were very effective. Tip: don't try to hammer them all the way as they can bend, instead finish with drill driver on hammer.
Date published: 2019-04-11
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fixing for price Thought they might ba a bit light weight for job but performed well, you have to get drill positioning accurate as they do damage quite easy when fitting
Date published: 2019-02-27
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of money and time Ran out of Rawl plugs so bought this type and they are rubbish as they don’t open up and tighten in the solid brickwork unlike the Rawl plugs I used earlier before running out
Date published: 2019-02-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheap handy fixings These are great value, easy to use and solid for most purposes. Worked a treat framing out the garage.
Date published: 2019-01-21
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Fischer nylon hammerfix, 8x60 I only found these good when used as hammerfix (which is what they are for) do not buy them if you need conventional plastic plugs with screws for your intended fix. Plugs are loose in a 8mm hole till hammered. Heads are very soft and can be stripped with a power screw driver. Mine were OK as frame fixings, but I tried to use those left over for securing some galv steel brackets to Sandstone, and they were difficult to get a secure fixing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Secure and strong I used these frame fixers to fix some wood to breeze block wall. Tapped in easily and fixed quickly.

Date published: 2018-12-06
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed and effective These are great pieces fo kit for anchoring into even the dodgiest of brickwork. They hammer in without bending and expand so they hold fast. Really quick and easy way to secure any load bearing woodwork onto walls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from hammer(fix) time great, easy to install fixings. would definitley reccomend
Date published: 2018-05-07
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Okay but I'll not buy again I've used many types of wall fixings and thought I'd give these a try to fix into concrete block. The fixing screws are softer than I recalled the last time I had purchased Fischer products. Screwheads are much softer and you need to be careful when using an impact driver. So not the best, but did the job. I will be buying an alternative product to try next time. Sorry Fischer these just aren't up to your old standards.
Date published: 2018-05-01
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the hammer Great fixings even in iffy walls. Used them to secure storage heaters to walls. Knock in easy with hammer but less effort with my trusty Makita impact driver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for the job Used to secure a wardrobe into a brick wall. Easy and simple to install and screw in. Would highly recommend.

Date published: 2018-03-30
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what I needed Did what it says on tin. just be careful of the hole drilled, the plug did not go in all the way a couple of times and had to pull out and re drill. make sure you remove dust from drilling from inside hole
Date published: 2018-02-14
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hammer fixings Good value for money and good quality. Use the recommended size drill bit and you will get a very good hold.

Would these be good for screwing to a solid wall that has dot and dabbed plasterboard?

Asked by: JD80
Thanks for your enquiry, we are not sure what you application is, the Hammerfix N is a light duty frame fixing, whether the 6 x 60 is long enough for your application will depend on the thickness of the item being fixed and the distance from the solid wall to the outside of the plasterboard. If you wish to contact technical with more details we can advise further technical@fischer.co.uk Regards technical.

What diameter are screws?

What diameter are the screws in this pack please? I can see that the plugs are 6mm diameter, but I'd like to know the diameter of the screws. Thanks
Asked by: JD80
The screws come pre-assembled and are not designed to be removed. The complete fixing should be installed through whatever you are fixing They are Ø3.5mm

Recommendation for screws

Hi, can anybody recommend some screws what will work with these plugs please? Thank you!
Asked by: ZoZo07
Thanks for your enquiry, The Hammerfix N6 x 60 is a hammerset frame fixing complete with its own ring type nail, it is not a plug and screw. The items should not be separated and the plug cannot be used with another screw. If you need further assistance please contact technical@fischer.co.uk. regards, Technical.

Are theses suitable to hang kitchen wall units into plasterboard dot and dad breeze block. Thanks

Asked by: 1Macca
Not really. They only hold around 12kgs per fixing. If you fit a batten along the wall and fit enough, then depending on the weight put in the cupboard, they could be used. Otherwise we would recommend the SXR 10 which are 20kgs per fixing or even resin and threaded rod which will be over 100kgs per fixin

Where it states product is 10mm in diameter, is this nylon plug or the diameter of the actual screw?

Asked by: Davee72
Thanks for your enquiry. The 10mm refers to the diameter of the plug and also the diameter of the drill hole (10mm) through your timber and into the brick or block. Not the screw. Regards Technical.

Are these suitable for fixing insulated plasterboard? Will the heads sit flush with the board or be proud of the surface?

Asked by: Insulatedboard
Thanks for your enquiry, They should sit flush with the plasterboard, make sure your drill hole (Ø 8mm) is deep enough prevent bottoming out. You may have to tap the screw/nail in the last little bit with a Pozi-drive to prevent damaging the plasterboard with a hammer. Regards, Technical

Do you just hammer the fixing in or do you screw it in?

The N Hammerfix are to be hammered into the substrate. The screw head is to remove it if necessary. For a good all round screw in version, try the SXR frame fixings as the loads are much better.

Hi, what size of masonry drill bit is recommended please?

I am limited to a 8mm size and ask if the sleve size is 8mm or is it the screw size

Asked by: Watty2
Sorry for the delay. fischer manufacture Hammerfix in Ø5 - Ø10mm diamerter which is the plug and drill size. The screw is never removed from the plug as the complete part goes through the component to be fixed. It would only be removed to dismantle the assembly.
