Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great until you touch it! Leaks everywhere - any metal to plastic fitting is always a bad idea - the is the personification of that - complete rubbish - replaced with Adey unit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leak at drain valve Had our Fernox TF1 Total Filter for around 10 years, it did it's job well, in keeping the system clean. But it had a very slight leak for years. Eventually tracked it down to where the brass drain valve screws onto main plastic body with seamingly no option for a washer or fix. Replaced it with the Fernox TF1 Omega with Valves, which was a straight swap (having the same fitings) without having to fit the new valves. On dissmantling the old one after replacement the drain valve looks to be glued onto the thread with no washer evident. If you have the same issue, this maybe servicable/solved with ptfe paste/tape. It is tough to unscrew it. The Omega being brass instead of plastic I would say there is less chance of cross threading the nuts. Also there is a whasher on the drain valve which is replaceable which to me looks sensible for future servicing.

Is the filter supplied with the spanner required to remove the large top cover?

Asked by: 24298910
Hi, yes it is, but ideally you should not remove the lid to clean them, but clean it by the fast clean method as per the instructions with it. To use it as a dosing point, use either the express versions of the product or remove the bleed valve from the top of the filter and pour product in that way. If you do remove the lid for any reason then you will need to replace the large O ring and ensure that the lid it is re-tightened to the correct point.

Does the service pack have a washer for bottom drain valve?

I see there is a service pack for replacement washers/o ring but does it contain a washer for the bottom “drain valve” (if that is the correct term) is this not replaceable? If not what sort of washer will I need?
Asked by: Nijafe
Hi Nijafe, No the service pack doesn't contain this. If your drain valve is leaking please phone Fernox Technical on 0330100 7750

Fernox TF! Total Filter 22mm

It is not practical to fit the filter on the boiler return. Can be fitted on the pipe from the boiler before the water pump and 3 way valve (HW, CH or both) in the airing cupboard Will this work? Thank you.
Asked by: SteveTJ
Hi Steve, Do you have an open vented or sealed system? The only restriction is that the filter must not go on the flow pipe before the vent off to the F & E tank. Also make sure that you adjust the inlet outlet port on the filter so that the arrow that is moulded on there points in the direction of the water flow. Finally the filter body must always be vertical. Have you looked at the TF1 Omega range? they are smaller but more efficient and give greater flexibility in smaller spaces.

Is it possible to purchase replacement seals for this filter? I am thinking specifically about the big O ring seal for the “lid”, of the filter.

Asked by: TroubledTimes
Hi TroubledTImes, yes you need a TF1 Range Seal and O ring kit (Fernox part number 59288) this range is for both the standard and compact range of TF1 total filters.
