Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would have been five stars but If you are thinking of buying one of these and don't have a workshop vacuum / dust extractor then you are in for ALOT of sawdust sweeping up...... This saw does everything so well apart from collecting sawdust in the little bag provided. Is it design flaw ? I really don't know as this is my first mitre saw after years of struggling on with hand saws and mitre boxes. After removing the bag and connecting my car cleaning vacuum to the socket and running the vacuum on the highest suction setting it captures probably 90% of the saw dust from a cut. So now I need to invest in a proper 'shop vac'! ......(More business for Screwfix!). The setting guide up was fairly easy to follow for a non mechanically minded person like me. I've seen better, I've certainly seen worse - just take you time and double check everything. With the supplied multipurpose 24 tooth blade, wood cuts are clean and accurate. I'd read horror stories about how long it took some people to get accurate cuts. Not so with mine - everything was aligned perfectly. Metal and plastic cuts return similar good clean cuts - the only thing I have found is that the slower you go, the better finish quality of the cut. Metal cuts are also surprisingly cool to handle straight after the cut. One point of note - and again this is a woodworking newbie observation, the bore of the blade (the hole in the middle) is 25.4mm. According to a joiner friend of mine this is not a common size - but a quick search on the WWW did return some very reasonably priced 'compatible' 80 tooth blades. If you can put up with the 'saw dust flaw' and your budget can run to this saw then its a no brainer - just go out and buy it, you won't be disappointed....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great saw - great price Read a lot of reviews and wanted the one which cut 300mm x 85mm but unfortunately was sold out. This one has the 1500watt motor hard start and I honestly think I’m better off with it than the 2000 watt. Saw cuts great and after some setting up and checking the angles I’m very pleased with the cuts accuracy. As it doesn’t cut 85mm in one direct cut, turning the wood over you can get a clean cut easily on thicker materials. Didn’t think I’d use the laser but it turns out be very handy. Dust bag is poor but this doesn’t really bother me as I’m using it mostly outside. Very strong, easily portable mitre saw. Great buy for the price

Can this cut mild steel? What maximum steel thickness can this saw cut?

The R210SMS-300 will cut mild steel with the multi-material blade. Max mild steel plate thickness is 6mm.

Cutting length

can you tell me what is the true cross cutting length as it says two different lengths one 300mm and 210mm so which is right

This model has a 300mm slide, this highly portable mitre saw enables longer angled cuts to be made than the 210mm slide on the RAGE3-S¨ model. A maximum cutting width of 300mm is achieved, allowing larger materials to be cut on a mitre saw which would not be possible otherwise.
