Rated 1 out of 5 by from Erbauer Router Cutter Thought I would try this because of price. Used on 18mm thick chipboard flooring. Cut for less than 1200mm and it started smoking. Tried on softwood but it was spent. Waste of money. Will stick with Trend or Freud. Trend cutter did 12 door hinges on Oak doors plus lots of softwood work and still going strong.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great price and does the job I thought the low price would mean low quality. Not so, this router bit performs well.

Vertical cut

Is this bit able to drill into the service directly (like a drill) or would you have to drill a pilot hole?
Asked by: Leeee1234
Hello Leeee1234, This is not suitable for use as a plunge router bit so you will need to drill a pilot hole. Thank you for using Q&A

Door hinges

Just wanted to know could l use this to make the grooves for the hinges in doors ? Whats the lowest this can go to..never used a router so buying the macinster brand one
Asked by: Ritz123
Hello Ritz123, The router would have a depth stop to control how far you are cutting. The Erbauer ¼" Shank Radius Hinge Cutter 20 X 19mm (52411) may be a better option for cutting hinges. Thank you for using Q&A SW

Is this cutter suitable for use on mdf cupboard doors?

I need to trim down some new mdf based cupboard doors and so looking for a router cutter that is capable of doing the job and leaving a neat smooth finish.
Asked by: DCDIY
Hi DCDIY, This should be able to cut the doors as you need to do but you may well need to use some sandpaper to finish the job off. Thank you for using Q and A.

What to use this for!

Sorry but I'm completely new to routing. However, have ordered a Palm Router and am wanting to make rebates for (internal) door hinges. Is this the right cutter for the job please? If not could someone point me in the right direction! Many thanks,
Asked by: JohnP2607
I used this for the same purpose with no issues, and minimal burning (likely user error). I gradually increase the depth of cut, no more than 6mm per pass. For rebating I run the router base against a straight edge or use a guide bush. They don't last forever when cutting manmade sheet material or softwood but at this price I don't mind replacing occasionally. I haven't used this on hardwood, suspect solid carbide bits would be more appropriate??
