Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but be aware I bought this to replace a worn out ERA mortice lock. I looked at the pictures and thought I was buying an exact replacement. Be aware the picture shows a lock with four anti saw dowels. What the lock does have is is two hardened plates in the bolt. Both are to the same British Standard, It was fine for what I wanted but it wasn't what I was expecting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement Lock I had lost the keys for a lock and reckoned it would be cheaper to buy a new lock than get keys made for it. I checked online and this lock appeared to be the same model as I had and when I purchased it it was identical. I did not need to make any adjustments to the door so the fitting was simple and quick.

Heavy, well made, strong and robust but only case (depth) and backset sizes given, these were exactly right to replace my existing 5 lever lock But not direct replacement as case height was taller so had to chisel out the pocket. UNLIKE the sash lock version I bought also which was a direct 2 minute replacement. Apart from that hiccup, both lock and receiver are very sturdy and bolt action throw very smooth.

Size of lock plates ?

Which "plate" is 180mm x 30mm ... is this faceplate of the lock or the plate that you screw to the doorframe ? What are the dimensions of the lock faceplate ... info suggests product height is 89mm but that can't be right because that's the case height.

Hi thank you for your question. The strikeplate is 180mm x 30mm, which is fitted into the door frame. The lock faceplate is 134mm x 26mm. The 89mm references the height of the lock case, not the forend/face of the lock. If you visit eraeverywhere.com and search for the Fortress Mortice Lock, you will find a line drawing on the data sheet which gives all the critical dimensions.

what is the lockcase height?

I need a lock with a backset of 64mm, a height of no more than 140mm and a lock case height of less than 68mm, pointers welcome.

Hi Sam, Is this a replacement lock? Our products are all based on a traditional deadlock size, so the actual backset (case size) ranges from 65-67mm, the height of the lock (forend height) is 134mm, however the lockcase height is 87-89mm, Unfortunately, we do not have any locks in our range with a height less than 87mm.
