Rated 5 out of 5 by from V.strong, install not so hard! Bought these to fix brackets to a block wall for shelves to carry some very heavy items. I really wanted to be sure nothing would collapse and these sounded likely to do the job, but I admit I was very intimidated by the apparent requirement for super-accurate mega-drilling. I enjoy DIY but am not really competent to saw a straight line or drill a straight hole. Finally plucked up courage to try, and all are now in the wall, the bolts line up with the holes in the brackets, and the brackets line up with each other. And it's all absolutely rock solid, I'm pretty sure I could dance on it without anything wobbling. Method, I drilled a guide hole then drilled the proper hole with a 12mm drill bit. This consistently gave me a hole larger than the fixings, but it was easy to pre tighten the bolt just enough for the fittings to expand a little and still go into the hole but fit snugly enough to stay put and let me tighten the bolt to get full expansion. It was then easy to tighten the bolt enough to get the fittings absolutley rock-solid in the wall, after which it was easy to remove and replace the bolts as needed while I positioned the remaining holes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gun safe anchor points Used to fix a gun safe to a breeze block wall. These anchor bolts are much more secure than the ones that came with the safe. Don't see any reason why it won't pass the firearms officers inspection now.

Shield anchor size for 5mm diameter screws

Hi I am looking to purchase shield anchors to use with pre-drilled heavy duty iron cast shelve mounts. The existing wholes on the mounts are 5mm in diameter. Which size shield anchors do I need to purchase? Many thanks Eric

Hello Ericl76 Unfortunatley the smallest shield anchors (not just from us) available to purchase are the M6 which require a 12mm sized drill hole. In order to use the smallest size shield anchor, you will need to enlarge your existing drilled holes. Thank you for using Screwfix Q&A. A.K.C.

Hi, is this the bolt and shield that comes with it or just one or other? Im planning to use these to secure a resistance band anchor into breeze block in my garage. Would these be strong enough to hold up agains tbody weight exercises?
