Hello. Although we can sometimes expect to witness the shaver socket to be slightly warm with a quiet hum when in use, we would not expect it to be very warm/hot or emit a loud buzzing noise. It also should not be warm or make any buzzing when not in use. If you believe the experience you have encountered seems to be excessive from this then our usual practice is for the product to be returned to us so we can conduct a full analysis in our UKCAS laboratory and produce a written report on our findings. Yes it has an internal switch that activates when a plug is put in. Hence, no power used when unplugged. I have 1 for the last 5 years and I'm just about to buy 2 more. They do 'hum' a bit, but I leave them un-plugged over-night to solve that problem, however, not so bad that I won't buy them.

Hello. We would not advise the use of electronic toothbrushes in our shaver supply units for the sole reason of the British Standard that we have tested them to (BS EN 61558-2-5). The standard does not require the testing of other electronic devices so we cannot assure any compatibility with our product unless specifically rated for the input/output of 115/230V. We cannot comment on other manufacturer's products, however by definition our Shaver Socket SKU: 70965 is characterised to fit a 2G Moulded Box of between 44mm-47mm.
