Had the socket fitted, and now I can’t believe how the signal as improved. Wish I bought one sooner, very pleased, works a treat.

Correct usage/description!!

Seen this described as a wifi extender/'plug'; am I correct in assuming you need more than one to get a signal beyond your home, to your garage/workshop; one within signal range to boost said range and another in the workshop/garage??

Hi Blue33, The extender is designed to be placed within a decent signal area (50% strength or higher) within the property then receive and re-transmit the incoming signal to a greater range than the router was originally achieving alone (nominally 15m in all directions from the socket location, including vertically). We never expected anyone to need to use multiple units in a `normal' home so didn't design them to work stably together, meaning that there is a potential for each additional extender after the first to reduce or even negate the benefits given by that initial unit.

30 meters or 15 meters

Is the range 15 meters or 30 meters. In one reply to a question its stated its 15 meters but on the spec. Its 30 meters. Is it better to buy the BG outside wi fi extender socket (767HV) or retro fit this one into a existing BG outsde socket?

Hi Blackfox, If taking the certification data, where tests were performed in the middle of nowhere with no structures in the way and no cross-interference signals, the extender circuitry achieved a 30m transmission range, but in a residential or commercial environment there are going to be physical barriers and interference signals which will reduce this so we state a conservative 15m average range to take this into consideration.

Additional sockets

Can these be linked to spread the signal around a larger flat?

Hi PhilNew, These sockets are not a MESH network, so can cross-interfere with each other. The extender circuitry was designed as a single unit solution for a `normal' UK home, with the a broadcast range to suit, so added to the original footprint of the router it would need to be a very widely spread-out property to require more than one.

I read you need a wi-if signal of 50% or more at the installation location for these to work, is this true?

If so, what’s the point of buying these...should I go for plug in extenders that use electrical wiring instead?

Hi Stu93, As these extenders work as a Wi-Fi transceiver they do need a reliable signal to connect to in order to not lose that connection in the stronger re-transmitted signal, so yes a minimum of 50% strength at the install location is necessary to allow them to then extend a good strong signal out to 15m or so on all directions (including vertically) which will easily exceed what the router was managing by itself in the direction of the extender.

Will this work in a separate garage 30m away? The garage has electricity from the house but no wifi signal.

Hi Kranist, This range extender works as a transceiver, receiving an incoming Wi-Fi signal (of at least 50% strength), processing it to add power, then re-transmitting it to an extended range compared to the original router signal. So _no_ it will not work when placed in the dead spot you are tying to improve the signal to, it should be part way between the router and the dead spot where the signal is adequate so that it can extend this signal into the problem area.
