Hello, to secure a dry lining box you need to fix and secure it to a dry lining wall with the outer lugs, with a thickness of between 6.35 and 15mm. Please note the intended surface for these boxes are plasterboard, hence we cannot say for definite whether the wooden frame would be secure. Thank you for your interest in our appleby brand.

We would recommend 6.35 – 15mm and would suggest tile finishing over the lip of the box. We would also suggest you install the box straight into the plasterboard. Thank you for your interest in our appleby brand.

Hi Answering my own question after talking to Appleby on friday. Checked clearance behind the box. Having practiced first with a new box. Used a screwdriver to unclip the front of the yellow fixing plate. Eased the yellow part backwards and away from the side of the box and uncliped it. Then reversed the proces to put in the new plate taken from a new box. The yellow plates are the same size so used plates from 3 singles to repair 3 doubles which had the threaded part missing. Thanks to the customer service tech guy at Appleby. PS don't electricute yourself. RPJ

Hi, These dry liners can be used with flat-plate profile switches. Visibility of the edge of the box will depend on the dimensions of the product front plate fitted to the box. Whilst the fitting holes are a standard space, the actual face plate measurements may differ by manufacturer. When viewed from the side, the edge of the box will be seen as the flat-plate sits up against the lip of the box and does not cover it. Use of a flush mounted metal box, available from Screwfix, code 90698 where possible will ensure the plate pulls up to the wall and none of the back box is seen.
