Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the job Purchased these brackets for a fold away work bench in my garage , a little expensive but seem good quality, easy to fit and folds away with the 2 release catches. Perfect for what I wanted and the usual great service at Etruria way , stoke on trent store .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed These seem to be good quality brackets, easy to fit although you will need a long screw driver. I am well pleased with these.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good concept, poor design These brackets are undoubtedly sturdy, but there are some annoying problems. 1. The stickers telling you how to operate the brackets are stuck over the mounting holes on the vertical and upright members, so when installed they are covered over. Not good for anyone inheriting the installation. They could easily have been stuck elsewhere, and, no, you can't peel them off. 2. The upper hole in the upright, very near the top, through which the screw bearing most of the load will be inserted, is very inaccessible because of the bracket design. It's impossible to get a drill bit anywhere near the hole, unless it's exceedingly long, so you can't offer up the bracket to drill a pilot hole. 3. If you do manage to drill the hole, it's then very difficult to get the screw in. You'll need a screwdriver with a very long shank, but it's almost impossible to keep the screwdriver in line with the screw because the underside of the bracket fouls the handle. 4. Bear in mind that, once your worktop is installed, both brackets must be released simultaneously to lower the worktop. This is very awkward to do; the release levers are stiff and difficult to locate. If your worktop is longer than about 1200mm or wider than 600mm you will find it almost impossible 5 Having finished my installation, the worktop now refuses to fold flat with the wall. This is no doubt as a result of 3 above, so I've now got to take the top off again to see what's wrong. Save your money and buy two hinges instead, and put a couple of folding legs on the non-wall side of the worktop. I can't recommend these brackets.

What is the width/dimension of the bracket when fully collapsed?

GripIt?

I want to use these to fold down a 22kg 1800x630 worktop to be used in my office/kids dance practice area. Will 20mm gripits be good enough to hold the brackets and worktop to the plasterboard?

Channel Width?

What is the channel width of the portion of the bracket that fits to the wall and what size and how many are the fixing holes in that channel. I'm presuming that the height of the wall fixing portion of the bracket is 272mm, if you could just confirm.

What is the maximum width between two brackets?

Looking to install an 1800mm x 450mm x 20mm wood panel to act as a desk. What is the maximum recommended distance between two brackets and would I need more than 2?

Bracket jams when folding down

When I fold the worktop down, one or other of the brackets jams just before it folds flat. Most annoying. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Asked by: DIYnotrouble
Hello DIYnotrouble, You might try bracing whatever is attached to the brackets incase one side is moving quicker than the other, causing the shelf to twist and jamming up one of the brackets. Thank you for using Q&A
