I skimmed a wall in the week , then had to fit door a door lining only to find out the wall was out, the upshot is I need to replaster over it to make up the corner that is out by approx 10mm (using door lining as a guide) is it best to use 2 skims of multi to build it out ? or is there a better way. The wall is now old plaster with the new skim on at the moment

Well the right way would have been to first fix the door lining, then plaster to it.

A undercoat plaster would be better at that depth.

Maybe the brickie means a bonding coat , apply pva glue to the area and apply bonding coat to make out say 9mm of the 10mm , get a plastic float to flatten out and apply finish coat , job done .

If the door lining allows, take 10mm off the edge all round.
