Rated 5 out of 5 by from IKEA Update I like my piece of IKEA furniture but a new redecoration of the house means it no longer fits in. This is the best primer to start the process of changing the colour of the laminate. Applied with a small roller, it makes the whole job simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Usual great efficient service by screwfix. Used the for priming a varnished staircase. Just washed it down then painted straight on. It coats really well as saves loads of time sanding. Would definitely recommend and use again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Knotty Pine Bought to seal knotty pine chest of draws covers well but would recommend using a small sponge roller with this primer as it allows you to work quick with this product.Tried a brush but you get problems with overlap and didn't like the results.

There are a few circular spots where the paint seems darker than the rest of the wall. Can I use this product to go over those dark spots and then apply one or two coats of my top coat to the affected areas and then a whole final coat on the entire wall?

Answer:
This is difficult to answer as you have not stated what the cause of the dark spots are, if they are water stains for example then yes the Zinsser B-I-N Shellac Based primer could be used, we would recommend spot priming the stains with the B-I-N Primer then applying a full coat of B-I-N primer to a natural break prior to applying your topcoats. Spot priming then painting straight over with your emulsion could result in flashing of the spot primed areas through your decorative finish. If the problem is due to something like cold spots then the B-I-N would not be effective, we do not have a product that has been tested for this application.

Answer:
Zinsser BIN is a great stain blocking primer and can be used to block most types of staining. This can be applied over the Satinwood as a primer then a further coat of Satinwood can be applied over the BIN.
