Rated 5 out of 5Â by RobW1969 Replacement RCD,problem sorted
Customer had a full re-wire and new Wylex CU in 2001. Random nuisance tripping of the RCD for about 3 weeks.. Unplugged the usual suspects(heating appliances, surge protectors, fridges, freezers etc). Resistance tests were fine on all circuits at 500v. RCD still tripping so suspected it had become over-sensitive as they can occasionally when they get old(usually 10 years+). Replaced it and no trouble since :-) Happy customer!

Always use wylex for left hand entry, never have problems.
Beware of reviews, fitting this PRIOR to an existing fuse box does not comply with BS7671 - no discrimination.
Do not contact the DNO for fitting isolator, contact the supply company - british gas, EON, whoever the customer pays the bill to. They are required to either pull the fuse and then return OR fit isolator which is everyones preference. I never change CU's live, nor work on live tails it is not necessary not to mention dangerous and breaks Health and Safety big style.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Rjb1 Safety update old Wylex board
R.c.d. I Put this on incoming feed from meter to old type Wylex box up date to plug in m.c.b.s saves having to replace with new consumer unit
If your not doing a new rewire switches off all circuits if there is earth leakage fault also use as isolating switch to work safely on consumer unit
The supply company's will not in this area fit an isolating switch you have to withdraw their fuse does not make sense because they fit seals which are not supposed to be broken but they expect you to work on a live box when you need to update to new consumer unit ? Why don't they fit 100amp isolating switch for safety perhaps to expensive not making enough profit should be in the IEEE regs
