Great saw - lousy instructions The saw, all 40kg of it, arrived in an odd-shaped cardboard box, within which it was sheathed in the standard polystyrene. Not surprisingly the box was damaged in several places, including one tear large enough to risk the loss of one nut and bolt, which, though fastened in place had worked loose - the nut came away in my hand as i inspected the packaging. The saw has been up and running today and has worked its way through a large pile of various-shaped logs pretty efficiently and overall I'm impressed with it s function. However, the rocker occasionally jams open. This happens when a log is being handled that is either longer and heavier than usual or twisted into an odd shape so that handling it is difficult; the rocker seems to distort and the result is the jam. What is causing this jam is the inside blade guard fouling against the hexagonal bolt-head on which the moving blade cover pivots. [see image] It was apparent during assembly that this was a potential problem [the guard cover came already assembled on its bolt]. I presumed that the final assembly would deal with this, which it did, until those clumsy logs were laid on the rocker. Pushing the inner blade guard back into alignment released the jam, but something is not quite right about this design. But the truly awful thing about this saw is the instructions. Others have pointed out the shortcomings, but in my opinion this saw should not be sold in England or France with the instructions I received. Quite apart from the diagrams being printed very dark so that some are difficult to distinguish, Section 6, headed 'Install the saw blade (Fig 8, Fig 9)' does not mention the saw blade. Fortunately I know enough schoolboy German to at least see that something serious is wrong. In fact this section 6 is a re-run of the previous section, as far as i can tell, explaining, in s rather different way, how to do much the same thing [in fact both are about the saw blade guard mentioned above]. Only the German instructions describe how to install the saw blade. The German instructions have a bold typeface warning about getting it the right way round. Figuring it out by myself I got it wrong, as became clear when I tried to understand the use of the special wrench supplied. [see image fro correct arrangement] I also found that the instruction section 9 'Adjusting the saw blade', in its 'then tighten the 4 safety screws' rather glossed over the fact that this required access to both the bolt-head and the nut, which in two cases was almost completely impossible. Add to this the reference to a diagram that doesn't exist, and the failure to mention that the screws required at one point are in fact already in place on a part that is not mentioned until much later, and the whole assembly becomes very much a 'Now i see what's supposed to happen' event. A real shame that such a useful piece of equipment should be supplied with such woeful instructions. 18 Mar 2015

Saw report Having assembled the saw eventually ,its a good job I did Airfix kits as a kid the finished saw does just what I want.I bought it as part of my wood burning project and a 1 hour session produces enough wood for weeks burning.Would be nice if screws and bolts were clearly marked. 2 Nov 2013
