Rated 1 out of 5 by It leaked Had to change a float valve in a cold water storage cistern in the loft of a grade 2* listed house. The previous one had failed, the overflow pipe had frozen (this was back in January 2016) and the tank overflowed and brought the ceiling down. I bought a part 2 valve and one of these floats and fitted - everything fine. A few days later I received a phone call from a very annoyed customer who said the overflow was running again. On investigation the float had a leak in it and had filled up with water. 6 Jul 2016

Rated 4 out of 5 by Low density blue ball I bought with separate ScrewFix item Pegler Prestex Float Valve Part 1 #90110#". The pair work well together. It would have been nice to know the full description before purchase. The size of the thread? How far into the ball that treaded [brass?] part actually goes so I know whether it's likely to break off over time. How thermally stable the plastic is - expected life - years? Aging in the extremes of temperature in my loft? Is the ball empty air or, ideally, closed cell foam filled, so I know it won't sink with the slightest crack? Well, it's "good enough" by superficial inspection. Time will tell how long it lasts! 10 Jun 2016
