Rated 4 out of 5 by It works but a lot of effort.. The product is fine, it will do the job. My big grip is why wing nuts to tighten down the cistern onto the toilet base. I found the wing nuts difficult to undo on the old fitment and even more difficult to tighten down. There must be a better alternative. 26 Aug 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Avoid Avoid Avoid The rubber doughnut seal is very tough and stiff which means it doesn't compress much at all. The result of this is a cistern that sits higher than previously when refitted requiring pipework alterations. There are kits on the market with much better doughnut seals than this one so I would shop elsewhere for one if required again. 22 Aug 2016

Rated 1 out of 5 by quality by someone in the game Having been a plumber all my life, with over 40 years in the game, I can honestly say having previously purchased goods from screwfix and been impressed by both the quality and price, in this case I have been sorely disappointed by this product, the defects in question are that the connecting plate is so flimsy that any tension applied by the butterfly nuts will cause the plate to bend, not producing the required pressure onto the doughnut washer for a good seal, also the supplied washers that should be used to pull the plate onto the toilet pan were too small a diameter externally for any standard UK pan and disappeared into the pan bolt hole instead of stopping the wing nut supplying the needed tension for a sound joining of pan to cistern, in my honest opinion the whole kit is ill conceived, In some previous reviews they have stated that this new incarnation of a previous version of this piece of kit is of sub standard to the earlier version, although I cannot compare this I can only draw a conclusion that the buying department either do not have an understanding on the final use of the products for sale, or that screwfix is outsourcing to Asian countries to maximize their profits at the expense of current or future customers. 16 Aug 2016

My close coupled cistern and pan are held together by 2 bolts which go through the base of the cistern then through the pan and do up with wing nuts -the 2 SQUARE headed bolts go through a DOMED rubber washer to a small nut underneath then onto wing nut and metal washer . IT leaks water one side .So where can I get these special NUT BOLTS And DOMED Washers????. Screw fix?? Have now dismantled ,cleaned, and smothered in silicon glue, and refitted - No more leaks to date !!

Answer:
The external daimeter of a 1 1/2 inch BSP pipe is supposed to be 47.803mm (according to Wikipedia). All the Close Coupling Kits I have seen so far (including this one) have holes 47mm or so in diameter and should fit a 1 1/2 inch BSP flush valve. If you have a 2 inch BSP flush valve (like a Dudley Niagara, as sold by Screwfix, B&Q etc) and you need a Close Coupling Kit, you will need one with a 60mm hole in the plate (as *not* sold by ScrewFix, B&Q, Plumb Centre...)

Hi , probably to late for you now but its an 1 1/2 inch hole in the clamping plate. Which would have been handy to know before I bought one for a 2 inch siphon , doh :-)
