Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not as described - No Balun I purchased this on the basis that it had a Balun for proper impedance matching. The description says it has a Balun, the Q&A with 'official' answer says it has a Balun. The product (or at least current stock) *does not* have a Balun. Cable termination is by screw terminals not F-connector. If you are looking for a Labgear Omni FM Aerial with a Balun, search for LABFMO elsewhere - similar price for aerial only (not a kit) - also has F-connector with boot and weather proof housing (which contains the Balun) and is a much better product. The product supplied was 29911LAB which is not the same aerial as LABFMO. It is branded Labgear and is made/packaged for Screwfix Direct (has SFD Ltd BA22 8RT on the label) by Philex Electronic Ltd (who own Labgear). The aerial kit comes with fixings, RG6 coax cable, a coax plug and instructions. The cable was white, not black as in the photo. The coax plug is a low-cost plastic one. Instructions aren't that great and there is a premium rate £1/min 0901 helpline number. Disappointed as this appears to be a low cost aerial packaged as kit. Would have much preferred higher quality aerial on its own without the coax and cheap plug, which I wouldn't have used anyway. Suggest Screwfix add the higher quality LABFMO FM aerial to product line-up to properly complement the LABDABO DAB aerial already stocked) Returned for refund since goods were not as described. (The LABDABO DAB aerial that is also stocked by Screwfix is a higher quality version and does include a Balun - bought one of those and happy with that).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good product I don't get asked to fit many radio aerials so I gave this one ago. Just the job, good price and easy to fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good value I put mine in the loft and it works very well, dragging in stations I have never had before. I have heard that loft aerials may not work so well if you have a slate roof so that is something to consider. My tiles are clay so not a problem. The kit comes with a male connector so I had to buy a female to fit my hi-fi. This really is a very good price as a certain on-line auction site is selling the same aerial for only slightly more but no fitting kit included Well done Screwfix

Rated 3 out of 5 by from FM Aerial Kit Good Service from Bury St Edmunds store. Easy to assemble, however this item was supposed to come with 10m of coaxial cable which would have been adequate for my installation requirements. With this particular fixing kit there was considerably less coax than the 10m stated therefore I now need to purchase additional coax cable to complete this installation. I am not able to comment on the performance / reliability as installation still not completed.

Will this also receive DAB?

Asked by: JonnieB
Hi, No this will not receive DAB signals as the aerial is for FM only - for DAB signals you would need 23595. Thanks

Splitting the signal

Can I split the signal from this to supply two rooms using a simple TV type coax splitter or should this be done using a powered UHF/FM amplifier/distributer?
Asked by: Apollo11
Hi Apollo11, By using a coax splitter you will also be splitting the signal strength between the two TVs. If you are in a strong signal area this may be okay but in most cases you will need to use an amplifier or distributor (which is best placed near the aerial). We do have a full range of amplifiers with Screwfix including remote power options. Thanks Labgear UK

Is there a balun?

The item description states 'Electronic 75 ohm Balun' but from the customer reviews, and the illustrations in the instructions PDF, I can see no evidence of a balun being included. Does this aerial have a balun or not?
Asked by: G4BAU
Hi, the aerial does come with a Balun as stated, this is the black box located at the back of the aerial. Thanks.
