Yes they're plastic.
Yes they don't fit absolutely flush to the wall but surely all clip on faceplates clip onto a backplate which by definition must be larger than the back box hole.
Yes, they fit best on flat walls - but don't all sockets fit better on flat walls?
I've only ever had one pop off because it wasn't clipped on fully.
So make sure the opening around the socket is flat.
Overpaint the edges of the plate over which the front plate clips to hide it's edges.
Then ensure that the front plate is fully cliped on.
I'm pleased with my results.

Tricky to fit, very flimsy face plate which can bend just due to the pressure of the cables, is a fiddle to remove, yet can pop off too easily.

Bought these to go on a new build house I had built, the buyer requested these.
Once fitted by my builder and sparky they looked poor.
The front plate is plastic and does not sit flush with the wall. There is a plastic lip that the plate attaches to making it look like it stands off the wall.
Only 4 small plastic clips hold the front plate on so it can pop of when un plugging something.
Dont buy spend a few more quid and get something metal. This applies to the full range not just these 2 gang sockets.
