Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very Poor Never have I felt the need to review a screw before, you get it I'm sure; it has a thread, check; it has a head, check; introduce screw and driver in a brief but intimate relationship and hey presto two become one. Well that's the story for the thousands of screws that I've had over the years, but when it came to the latest round of fixing some Exterior Softwood Tongue and Groove to some Exterior Stud Work all was not good with my latest purchase of TurboUltra. In total I fixed about 10 planks in place using approximately 50 screws. Most of the screws drove without issue and countersunk themselves nice and flush with the surface however, with 5 of the screws the heads sheared off even before countersinking. Did I pre-drill or pre-countersink no, I was fixing softwood to softwood the screw has a sharp self drilling point and is described as a self countersinking screw this shouldn't have been necessary. The worst thing is that the shank sheared half way through the TnG so there was no easy way of removal. Seriously consider another screw.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp Customer In my experience the only screw that doesn't rust in outside locations - ideal for fences, decking etc. The sharp point makes starting them off easy, and usually no countersinking is necessary. Well worth the extra money

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fantastic! i purchased these for some garden furniture that i am making. They are a very good screw, but a word of caution, make sure you use the correct screwdriver bit and if the material you are fixing into is hard, drill a pilot hole or even put a normal steel screw in first they fit the stainless screw as they are quite soft in comparison to normal wood screws but are a must for exterior work

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cover Photo is incorrect I have no problem with the product as delivered but would warn anybody expecting to find the thread only going up some of the shank as pictured in the cover photo that this is not the case. View the other photo and you will see, as indeed I can confirm with the product that arrived, that the screw thread goes all the way up. As it happens this does not matter for my application however there may be some applications where this is more of a concern so buyer beware.

Is A2 stainless steel suitable for screws to be used outside? Or what stainless steel screws should I buy?

Asked by: SvTT
A2 stainless steel is suitable for outdoor areas not close to the sea, as A2 is not suitable for non freshwater areas.
